Have you ever heard the expression “fighting like cats and dogs”? You sure have. Since we were kids we’ve learned that cats and dogs have the worst fights and they don’t usually get along with each other. But, sometimes, life proves all of us wrong.

Like, for example, in the case of little Koda the ginger kitten and her best friend, Keelo.

When Koda was rescued and taken home by her new parents, nobody knew how the dog of the house would react to this new addition to the family. Keelo, the Golden Retriever, had already been with the family for some time before Koda was adopted. Luckily, as soon as Koda arrived home, the dog accepted her almost as if she was its own puppy.

The little kitten was tiny compared to the fully grown dog. She loved being close to her canine friend from the very beginning, and she tried to draw its attention. Keelo seems to love napping, so every time it took a nap, Koda would curl up next to it, usually beside the dog’s legs.

Their owners put together a video made up of montaged clips they filmed during the first eight months of their co-existence.

In this video, we can watch Koda at first trying to approach the dog, which is accepting its fate as the new protector of Master Kitty. Keelo just goes with the flow, following Koda’s movements with its eyes- the body is too tired to play with her, it just needs a nap!

Then, as time passes, we can see Koda getting bigger and bigger. Now Keelo seems more willing to interact with her, sometimes even taking the initiative for play. They pretend to bite each other, while it is obvious that this is part of their game. At the end of the day, they can still be seen napping together.

After some more time, we can see Koda having grown up significantly. By no means is she a fully grown kitty yet, but the difference from the first clip is obvious. She can now be seen playing “hide and seek” with Keelo, and even eating next to her. Well, this is not the entire truth. They’re not just eating side by side; they’re eating out of the same bowl! Yes, you read that correctly!

The two besties spend their time playing together, sitting next to each other when they’re “cleaning” themselves, and of course, cuddling and snuggling.

Is this a typical cat and dog relationship or is it a special bond that has been built between the two animals? Who knows! What we do know for sure is that this pair is super cute and we can’t get our eyes off of them for as long as the video lasts.
