Tiny kitten can hardly believe it when he gets a chomp from his brother during playtime
Did you ever stick your hand somewhere you shouldn’t a learn a lesson the hard way?
Well one little kitten did when he got a toothy reminder from his sibling about the dangers of kitten mouths.
Kittens learn to socialize by playing with their littermates. And we all know that socialization requires some bold moves and harsh consequences so the lessons take hold. That means – at least for kittens – that there is plenty of biting and scratching.
It simply takes them a little while to connect the fact that their teeth and claw hurt others as much as it hurts them. But eventually, they learn that biting and scratching are things that you shouldn’t do unless you want trouble (or revenge).
Of course, during playtime, bites can be totally unintentional. Take, for example, the case of the bitten kitten.
In a now-viral gif of two kittens playing, a tuxedo kitten gives his little tabby sibling a toothy lesson – but it’s a complete accident!
The two kittens are just pawing at one another when the tabby ends up with its paw resting on the mouth of the tux kitten. But then the tux yawns – and it’s a big one. No surprises there since kittens have the luxury of sleeping about 20 hours a day!
His brother’s paw ends up in his mouth and no one seems to notice until
– CHOMP –
…the yawn is over and the tuxedo closes its mouth.
The tabby’s paw was in the line of fire and boy did those tiny kitten teeth hurt!
Oh, the agony!
He pulls his paw away, smarting from the pain and in shock that it all happened.
Then he shakes his little paw like a human would after they burned it or slammed a finger in a door.
The kittens appear to be around 3 to 4 weeks old since their eyes are open, but they’re still pretty tiny. And at around week 3 we know that kittens really start to play with one another before turning into those little energy balls that will play with just about anything.
After the tabby gets over the initial shock, it decides to teach its sibling a lesson (we suppose the lesson is “watch where you yawn?”).
The tuxedo cat is now innocently bathing itself until….KITTEN ATTACK.
The tiny paws of thunder rain down upon its head in retaliation. It’s nothing too serious since there’s not a lot of power behind those fists yet.
Maybe that’s why the tuxedo cat is still blissfully bathing, oblivious to either the bite or the payback.
The tabby is so annoyed at this point – not only did he get bit but now his siege seems to be going unnoticed.
So he decides to get up – no more playing with this kitten! The only problem is he doesn’t really have enough body strength to do it. He ends up rolling on his back like a little turtle until he realized that maybe his sibling can be useful after all.
He uses the tuxedo kitten’s head to prop himself up so he can prance away in a huff and go tell mom.
We have to admit that it’s a pretty adorable scene, especially since there were no real injuries – except to one kitten’s ego.
