Although the naturally occurring rivalry between dogs and cats is the stuff of legend, it doesn’t mean all cats and dogs dislike each other. In fact, there are countless videos of a dog helping a cat out and vice versa. Of course, they love to snuggle up on each other, too. While if a cat and dog are going to bond it often happens right away, sometime one of them might need a little coaxing, like in the case of this German Shepherd and his tiny kitten sibling.

When this playful kitten showed up at the German Shepherd’s house one day, the dog just didn’t know what to make of him.

Beck is a handsome German Shepherd boy who has been living the perfect life with his family. So, he was understandably a little confused when his humans added another furry little member to their pack.

They named the kitten Bleu and introduced him to Beck right away.

While the kitten seemed pretty much stoked to inherit a big, furry older brother to terrorize, the German Shepherd was a bit apprehensive. Though Beck wasn’t aggressive toward the kitten, he also wasn’t too keen on getting close to him either. The dog would quietly watch the crazy kitty pounce around the house from afar, and when Bleu was sleeping in his cat-carrier, Beck would lie down next to his parents and watch the kitty doze.

The German Shepherd might not have given the warmest of welcomes to the kitty, but he also didn’t try to dominate or scare the kitten either.

The sweet dog was simply taking time to understand the kitten and why he was there.

Beck’s humans patiently reassured him that the kitty’s craziness was okay and he slowly started to interact with Bleu more and more. Then, one day it finally hit Beck that the kitten, for all his insanity, was just trying to play with him…all the time!

Beck might have been pretty unenthused about Bleu’s abrupt appearance, but all that changed once he realized just why his humans brought the kitten home. Clearly, they brought Bleu into his life to be his new best friend.

With that realization, the dog’s attitude went from aloof and uninterested to open and ready for play.

There’s no question that Bleu definitely has more energy than Beck, and he can wear him out pretty quickly. Even so, Beck didn’t try to stop his kitty brother from carrying on without him. The dog started to just let Bleu climb all over him, swat at him, and even nibble on his ears. All of that was now totally okay since they were BFF’s.

Bleu loves to mess with his big brother Beck.

When they play in the yard, Bleu will crouch low in the tall grass and wait for Beck to come close. As soon as Beck’s not paying attention, Bleu will launch himself through the grass to pounce Beck’s face and catch him off guard. This kitty has a ball whenever he gets to startle his big bro.

Though their silly shenanigans might seem like nothing more than wholesome play, these two are doing something much more important.

Beck and Bleu have begun to lay the foundations of a beautiful and lasting friendship.

When Bleu isn’t trying his best to spook Beck outside, they will find different ways to play inside. Most of which involve Bleu swatting Beck in the face a few times before Beck tries to fish him out from underneath the furniture.

Then, when they’re both all tuckered out, Bleu will come crawling up to his big brother for snuggles in his warm, fluffy, fur. Of course, he might still give Beck a few nibbles just to remind him not to get too comfortable.

Within a week’s time this tiny, playful kitten was able to completely win over the heart of his big German Shepherd brother.

The two buds have formed a lasting, unbreakable bond with each other. Nowadays, whether it’s eating, sleeping, playing, or fighting… whatever it is, these two are doing it together.
