Drop an egg in a piece of bread and add cheese for a breakfast sandwich that changes the game
Are you fond of Asian cuisine? Well, so are we, therefore today we have a very tasty and unique recipe to share with you! As you might already know, Asians are proud of their street-food tradition as it offers a quick and cheap solution for their daily meals.
And, if you have visited South Korea, you might have seen many food trucks or street vendors, offering a variety of food options such as Tteokbokki, Odeng, Corn dogs, Gyeranppang, Kimbap at a very low price.
Therefore, today we are going to see how to make the famous Korean ham and cheese egg sandwich, a grab-and-go type of breakfast that you can literally find everywhere in South Korea as it’s one of their most popular and tasty sandwiches.
In a video shared on the YouTube channel Foodie Land, a bread baker of more than 30 years decided to show the world how he has been making his popular recipe of ham and cheese egg sandwiches.
The video was a success and many people praised the baker for his skills!
One man wrote, “So much work for a simple ham sandwich. Respect.”, while another said, “This is legit art! Wow so inspiring I love YouTube I just got it! This is legit such an amazing and pretty good ahhh I wish I could eat some! Thanks Korea”.
As you can guess, the eggs are really important to this recipe. So, you will need to make sure you have plenty of them. The first step is to add in a mixing bowl, the eggs, some cooking cream, and some…Mayo!
Next, you should whisk them all together until you have a big fluffy mixture.
Toast bread is the best option for this recipe as its size and shape are ideal. In the video, as you might have imagined, the baker is the one who also made the bread used in the recipe!
Dip the slices one-by-one in your creamy mixture and align them in rows in a non-stick baking tray.
Then take more bread, but instead of dipping in the mixture, cut a small round hole in each of the slices.
On your creamy bread, add a slice of ham and cheese as you would normally do while preparing a sandwich.
And, then after dipping the slices with the hole in your creamy mixture, put them on top of your ham/cheese bread. In the hole, add only the yolk of an egg, and then on top add some mayo.
Put your tray in the oven and let it bake until it gains this crispy golden color, if you like at the end sprinkle with some herbs like parsley.
And, your ham and cheese egg sandwiches are ready!
Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with an accurate measurement of ingredients, as the baker in the video has used the quantity he needed for a much bigger production of sandwiches. However, in this foodie blog by the South Korean food-enthusiast, Seonkyoung, you will find a more family-friendly recipe with a small twist!
Bon Appetit!
