Landlord tells woman not to worry about paying rent – then texts her saying 'go to your front porch'

As the world continues to stay on lockdown, there is a very good chance that either you or someone you know is struggling.

Pretty much everything is changing — and rapidly — so it is safe to say that there is at least one thing that you or a loved one has worried about whether that is job security, safely getting groceries, or keeping friends and family safe.

Another common concern being felt around the world at the moment is rent. With millions of people losing their jobs and depending on unemployment due to failing businesses, paying rent is hard. It’s not like you can go get another job because no one is hiring and it’s not like you can just pick up and move because, well, where do you go?

People are struggling to make any cash right now, which makes it extra hard to scrape up enough dough for the next rent check.

Landlords don’t necessarily have the best reputation for being extremely friendly people either which makes the whole rent situation harder…

However, there are a few great landlords out there who bless their tenants with some serious gifts.

Nathan Nichols is a landlord who demonstrates the latter. He owns a two-unit in South Portland and decided to ease up on his tenants.

“COVID19 is going to cause serious financial hardship for service and hourly workers around the country. Because I have the good fortune of being able to afford it and the privilege of being in the owner class, I just let them know I would not be collecting rent in April,” Nichols wrote in a Facebook post.

“I ask any other landlords out there to take a serious look at your own situation and consider giving your tenants some rent relief as well.”

This statement from Nichols is extremely generous given the fact that landlords do, in fact, rely on rent payments as a source of income and have their own bills to pay as well. Because it was such a kind thing to do, the post gained a lot of traction and garnered thousands of likes.

And believe it or not, Nichols isn’t the only kind landlord out there.

Christina Marie — who lives in Saginaw, Michigan — was really taking a financial hit. Because of Covid-19, she wasn’t even sure about how she was going to feed her four children. This mother was truly struggling just to get by.

This pandemic is also hard for parents as their children are now home all day, so they have to take care of them, prepare all of their meals, and teach them their studies.

Christina’s landlord, Alan, told her not to worry about rent either (much like Nichols). When he told her that, she was stunned.

“SOOO My landlord Alan called me earlier and told me not to worry about rent this month and we will worry about it later. [I] said okay!”

And when you think that’s as nice as it gets, it doesn’t end there. Alan had even more up his sleeve.

“Then he asked me if we had food. I told him how I had 3 packs of meat left and needed to go this week and he told me okay be safe. Then I get a text saying go to your front porch please!!! And I see this. I couldn’t tell you how I feel right now for him to do this for my family. My heart is so touched. GOD BLESS YOU,” Christina shared on Facebook.

Her post also went viral and garnered hundreds of thousands of likes. Not only did Alan not collect rent, but he got groceries for her entire family.

Now that is some serious kindness.
