Woman with severe skin disorder gets life-changing nose surgery and looks like a new person

When a woman named Pamela visited the daytime talk show The Doctors to talk about getting a nose job, it’s wasn’t your typical vanity wish.

Pamela has a severe subtype of rosacea called rhinophyma which causes an enlarged, bulbous, red, and distorted nose.

Here’s Pamela as a child, before her condition kicked into gear:

And here’s Pamela a few years ago when she first visited the set of the show:

Prior to getting an intervention courtesy of The Doctors, Pamela had visited the set a few months prior to talk about her condition.

“When I was fifteen, I had beautiful skin. Puberty set it, acne set in. It started to get really bad,” she said.

It was after having her children that she noticed a big change in her skin and more severe outbreaks of acne along with the swelling of her nose.

Dr. Travis Lane Stork talked to Pamela about the havoc the condition wreaked on her self-esteem.

She said that it had gotten so bad that she was embarrassed to leave the house. The size and shape of her nose had made her anxious that she wasn’t able to enjoy her life the way she should.

Dr. Sonia Batra told Pamela there was hope and the hosts called on dermatologist Dr. Anne Zedlitz for a consultation.

Pamela’s road to reinvention started with topical and oral medications to clear up her skin. Then Zedlits moved on to laser therapy once she knew what would be left after the least invasive course of treatment.

The audience cheered as the dermatologist told Pamela that she would do this as well as any further surgery needed for free if Pamela wanted – and of course, she did.

Three months later, Dr. Zedlits and Pamela returned to The Doctors to show off their progress.

“Unreal. I barely recognize you because you look so great!” Dr. Stork exclaimed as Pamela sat down for her post-op interview in 2017.

Over 10 million people have now viewed the dramatic transformation.

When Pamela was asked how it all made her feel, she exclaimed: “Happy!”

“I’m excited about the new me! I no longer hide behind my hair. It’s truly a new beginning!”

Dr. Zedlitz described what went into what looks like a total reconstruction of her nose. After the medications came CO2 laser treatment and Ultherapy to de-bulk her nose and tighten the skin.

Pamela needed time off to heal in between rounds of treatment and even though the healing was no doubt giving her some anxiety as well, you can already see the confidence returning as she posed for photos.

It looks like she knows that she’s on the road to looking like herself again.

The third step was “re-volumization,” which involved fillers injected around her nose, which also helped to fill in some of her acne scars.

Finally, it was back to oral medications to shrink oil glands and pores.

By the time she returned to the stage, Pamela was just two weeks into a 6-month course of medication but she was already looking incredible.
