Pre-schooler goes all-in at graduation performance and the audience cannot hold it together

Have you ever wondered why we subject ourselves to pre-school graduations? It must just be that we like marking occasions, even if they’re not major accomplishments.

Or perhaps it’s to give kids some experience being recognized on stage so they can do so gracefully later in life.

If it’s the latter, we’re not sure if a little girl in Ohio needs more or less of that.

But we do know that Lily was born to be in the spotlight.

Just perhaps as more of a comedic performer than anything else.

When WFLA news reporter Josh Benson posted a video of Lily performing with her class at Ohio’s Lebanon Presbyterian Church, we’re not sure he could have expected 60 million views!

But here’s a peek at what people are finding so amusing.

The 5-year-old’s grandmother, Martina Blair, filmed the class performance of a song called “Tooty Ta” at their end-of-year performance as she sat in the front row.

Of course, you didn’t need to be in the front row to HEAR Lilly.

Over the course of 3 minutes, the comic kiddo goes from dancing and making faces to being the proudest singer in the bunch – which is saying a lot when you’re singing a song as lyrically eye-rolling as “Tooty Ta.”

Most of the other children swayed along to the music, following some of the directions to give the “thumbs up” or put their “knees together” with some vague sense of enthusiasm.

Meanwhile, Lily got her groove on while slapping her leg.

When Blair posted the clip to her own Facebook page, it got 12 million views in just two days!

“I put that video out there as a way for people to forget about it all for five minutes and just have a reason to smile,” she told local news channel WHIO.

This was in 2019, so just imagine the kind of distraction we’re going to need from Lily in 2020! I sure hope she’s practicing for that!

Blair told the local news that Lily was a “natural performer.” And we believe it! She loves to sing and dance, enjoys arts and crafts, and adores all things Disney. Her grandmother called her “our hysterical little blessing.”

There are roughly two kinds of people who watch this video – those who can’t take their eyes off of Lily and those who can feel deep down in their bones the embarrassment of the little girl standing next to her.

Now, it turns out that girl wasn’t embarrassed or feeling overshadowed by Lily. In the comments, her aunt let everyone know all was well, and she just doesn’t enjoy being on stage but got some last-minute courage to go up anyway (which she is clearly regretting).

The girl’s aunt was a fan of Lily’s performance too:

“The girl getting down… love her! That’s not showing off that showing how music touches her soul:):) two polar opposites next to each other! Everyone is different.”

So no hard feelings. Everyone was just feeling their own feelings up there in front of the crowd. It’s a lot of pressure to put on a little one!

As for how the other students felt about Lily stealing the spotlight? No one really knows – and our guess is that Lily doesn’t really care. She’s busting a move for herself at this point.

Commenters called her a “free spirit” and a “leader.” Some even said she was their “spirit animal.”

To have the moxie to put on a performance like this! Many of us can only dream of it.

The song’s lyrics are dictating most of Lily’s moves, but even to those, she adds her own flair.

If you want a good laugh, be sure to scroll down and watch the whole performance.
