Little boy goes to shelter to get a new pet – picks the cat no one thought would get adopted

If there’s one thing that’ll put a huge smile on the face of children, it’s letting them know that they can have their own pet at home. A little boy from Exploits Valley in Canada had been asking for a pet recently, and his parents finally agreed to welcome a new family member. What’s even cooler, is that the boy was given complete freedom and he could pick any animal he wanted at the shelter.

In the end, he was doubting whether to get a pup or a cat, but when he first laid eyes on Tiny the feline, he instantly fell in love.

The boy named Easton definitely picked out a special cat, as he took home the largest cat they had at the shelter. It was already an elderly cat, and he even quite resembles Garfield because of his size and his rather orange color tint.

Tiny first came into the shelter along with his sibling Trinity. They were brought to the Exploits Valley SPCA because their owners sadly weren’t able to care for them anymore due to circumstances they hadn’t foreseen. Tiny and Trinity’s owner hoped that both of them would find new loving homes, even though the owner knew it wouldn’t be easy, particularly for Tiny. The owner figured his senior age would scare off potential families, and Tiny was also quite overweight.

“Tiny isn’t a picky eater, but is ‘weight challenged’ and has a big round belly that he loves to have rubbed,” the animal shelter wrote on Facebook in a now-deleted post.

Tiny and his sibling Trinity weren’t really bonded, and it wasn’t exactly an issue if they were both adopted separately.

When the little boy first saw Tiny, there was no doubt about it: this was the pet that Easton wanted to take home with him.

As soon as the newly expanded family left the shelter, Easton and Tiny instantly bonded. During the car ride home, Tiny snuggled and bonded with his new owner the entire time – it’s clear that this is one adorable, loving and affectionate cat!

“Easton’s mom told him he could adopt a new pet,” the Exploits Valley SPCA shelter wrote on Facebook. “He had the choice between a puppy dog or a cat. He chose to adopt Tiny, a 10-year-old cat who had just lost his home. On the ride home Tiny got out of his cage and cuddled in with his new owner and has been stuck to him ever since. Great job Easton, Tiny is one lucky cat!”

The shelter staff initially described Tiny as a ‘shy’ cat, but all that shyness went away as soon as the adorable feline interacted with Easton! And while his size may be big – his personality is even bigger.

The post on Facebook went viral with more than 55,000 likes and hearts, and it was shared all around the world.

Tiny and Easton have definitely won the hearts of the entire internet!
