When we were still kids, we were told to always say the magic words “please” when we need something and “thank you” when we are given something.

On the contrary, we were also told not to do a lot of things like cursing, hurting other kids, getting something we don’t own, not talking to strangers, and sneaking into other people’s property.

This boy, however, violated the last one and soon you’ll find out why.

A couple of years ago, footage taken by a home security camera revealed an odd interaction that the homeowners started to notice.

At first, they thought it was just a one-time occurrence, but it eventually turned out to be more like a morning habit of a little boy from their neighborhood and their dog.

Hollie Mallet, the homeowner was scanning through the recordings and she noticed it happening every day at the same time.

Every morning Hollie makes it a habit to open their garage to give their black lab named Duchess some fresh air.

It was also the same time when a little boy on a bicycle would stop by their house, hop off his bike, sprint into their open garage, and…

Give Duchess a big hug and pat on the head.

After that, the black lab’s visitor would sprint off again and ride away on his bike.

At first, Hollie was puzzled as to why the boy would do that. It was her first time seeing such and she was really eager to know the reason behind it, if there were any, apart from the boy just liking their dog that much.

Although Hollie was at the same time thankful because, unlike others who would see an open garage as an opportunity to steal, the young boy obviously was not that type.

From all the clips from their home security camera, the boy did nothing but hug Duchess and pat her head, nothing more and nothing less.

A perfect example of a kid’s pure innocence and love. Hollie didn’t mind a bit about the boy sneaking into their open garage.

In fact, she thought the scene was actually cute.

Hollie really wanted to know who the boy was, so she decided to release the cctv footage to her neighborhood group and asked everyone if they knew who it was.

With high hopes, thankfully, she got a response and it was none other than the boy’s mother.

She was concerned about her son sneaking into somebody else’s garage, but amused to know that her boy only did it to hug a dog.

The boy’s mom identified her son as Josh and she revealed the probable reason why her son was doing it.

“Last night when I first saw it, I was torn as a momma being happy and upset”

Soon, Hollie and her family learned that Josh also had a beloved dog of his own named Bella.

But sadly, Josh’s dog passed away the year before. The sad story explained why the little boy was so attached to Duchess.

He just missed that feeling of having an adorable dog, the feeling of hugging it and petting it.

Both families agreed to give Josh and Duchess more playtime together.

They can be friends and this time, there’s no more sneaking into an open garage.
