Little boy insists classmate is his twin – teacher sends mom photo of them together and she breaks down

This little boy, Myles, was absolutely certain that he looked the exact same as another boy in his class. He was so sure of it, he told his mom about it over and over again and insisted that him and Tanner dress up the same for his kindergarten’s Twin Day.

At first, his mother, Britney Tankersley, was hesitant and a bit unsure about this idea. Who was this classmate, anyway? How could she even get in touch with his mother to coordinate? Where was she even going to find the perfect matching outfits?

“He went on and on about how they looked exactly the same. ‘We both have brown eyes, we both have dark hair,’ and he was just adamant,” Britney wrote in a now-viral Facebook post. “So I head to Walmart and I’m like, irritated. I’m like, this is too late. I’m too old for this.”

Even though Britney was irritated though, she still stuck by Myles like the fabulous mother that she is and went through with what she initially thought was a confusing idea.

First, she spent some time — around an hour — tracking down Tanner’s mother. After that, she finally headed to the store at 9 p.m. — a Walmart near their Alabama home.

At the store, to her surprise, she found two cute matching button-down flannel shirts in the boys’ sizes that said, “Future Leader.”

When Twin Day came around, Britney had Myles’ teacher send her a photograph of the result of all her late-night hard work and she was absolutely stunned.

“Their teacher sent me this picture today. My heart melted. Obviously two very different children, but Myles didn’t see that. Wouldn’t the world be such a better place if we could all view it through the eyes of a couple five-year-olds?” she wrote.

After taking a moment to process the photo, she began to cry.

“I was basically crying because it was so sweet. Obviously, I know that they don’t look alike at all. But he didn’t see that, you know? I expect to get a picture of another white child with light skin and brown hair, whatever, but I didn’t get that at all. And I said, ‘That is the sweetest thing in the whole world.’”

Her post on Facebook, which explained the whole story along with an adorable photo of the two “twins,” quickly became popular and currently has over 510,000 likes and 50,000 comments.

“It’s so crazy. My objective is never to be in the spotlight, but I think the message is more important than how much it exploded.”

Britney is completely right, too. It is such an important message to spread, and we are so glad that with the help of her son, they are raising awareness.

“Children are awesome! Clearly you have an exceptional kind and loving boy,” one friendly stranger commented on the post. “I’m in tears. This is so HUMAN! We could all learn a lesson… reminded when we were innocent and had no preconceived notions of who are friends should/could be…are! Love to all,” another wrote.

Love is blind! Thanks to Myles for proving that!
