Little girl gets hilariously sassy with Alexa device when it won’t play a song

Maybe Alexa is just tired of hearing “Baby Shark” – we know we are!

But that did not sit well with one little girl who went viral last year for her frustrated response to the Alexa device’s inability to be an adequate DJ.

“Ok, play the Baby Shark now,” she demands.

The machine feigns ignorance as so many parents have done.

“I didn’t catch that.”

Well played, Alexa.

But toddlers don’t give up that easy, so she says again “Play the song Baby Shark.”

“I think you want to hear the song Baby Shark?” replies the device.

She twists and contorts herself into as many versions of “YEEES” as possible.

“I didn’t catch that” replies the device.

Ouch.

“But can we appreciate that she realized she needed to articulate and replied yes instead of yeah?” suggested a viewer.

That’s true – she was more articulate the more Alexa became frustrating.

But hopefully, the bigger lesson here is that technology is simply not reliable.

Since “Baby Shark” happens to be a particularly grating song, we can’t help but laugh at the Alexa device’s seeming unwillingness to just play the darn song.

“Omg even Alexa gets tired of hearing Baby Shark. lol now that’s funny,” joked a commenter.

Are we sure parents can’t program these things to play dumb when met with certain requests?

At this point, the little girl has had it. She feels like she’s being trolled by a machine.

“OK STOP DOING THAT ALEXA” she pleads.

Of course, Alexa can’t do anything but be further infuriating by replying in ignorance with its entirely calm voice.

“I think you’re asking for the song Baby Shark. Is that right?”

Now the little girl attempts to appeal to the device’s sense of professionalism.

“Yes, it is right,” she says very clearly.

But somehow the machine is caught in some sort of death spiral of annoying behavior.

“Was that ‘Play the song Baby Shark'”? it asks innocently.

Ok, Alexa, you know that’s what she’s asking for.

We would have hurled our machine out the window by now.

But just as Alexa seems to have run out of options and has no choice left but to follow the demands of its tiny toddler master, she tells the machine to stop. She’s fed up.

This little girl isn’t the only one to go viral over her battle with Alexa over Baby Shark. It appears it’s a worldwide toddler dilemma!

The year before two-year-old Zoe Turner also melted the hearts of tens of over a BILLION viewers when she toddled around her family’s kitchen asking Alexa to play “Baby Shurr.”

After trying for 5 minutes, the look on her face is priceless when she finally gets his message across.

At least she learned the value of persistence!

Frankly, we’re not sure what’s funnier in these videos, the toddler or Alexa. We can’t help but wonder if there’s a computer programmer out there that really hates that song and made sure it was hard to request.
