Little girl outshines professional dancer during their impromptu dance duet

Dancing has been around as long as humans.

And even though its form and execution might change through the ages, one thing remains a fact: with enough practice, anyone can dance—especially with the help of a professional. Valentin Chmerkovskiy is one such professional.

Chmerkovskiy is a professional dancer best known as a top participant in the competition show “Dancing with the Stars” in season 13 back in 2011.

Having competed in the show for a decade, Chmerkovskiy won first place twice. In season 20, he won with actress and the eldest daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, Rumer Willis, in 2015. His second win was with Olympic artistic gymnast Laurie Hernandez in 2016.

But since then, the dancer dedicates most of his time teaching children, hoping to inspire them and improve their lives.

On Mother’s Day 2021, Chmerkovskiy posted a 44-second video on his Facebook page.

Many young children surrounded the dance floor inside a studio as the 35-year-old Ukrainian-American Chmerkovskiy introduced in a tiny dancing powerhouse. “Hey, world,” he typed, “meet Camila, my new dance partner.”

Even though Camila was half of Chmerkovskiy’s size, her talent was practically equal to his.

As Dua Lipa’s funky “Don’t Start Now” blasted from the speakers, the teacher and student boogied in perfect harmony. While Chmerkovski’s had decades of experience, it’s Camila had been dancing since a very young age. The dancing teacher also noted his ripped shirt, admitting he “was going ham earlier in the class.”

Camila matched his speed and timing perfectly, all while her classmates cheered her on, despite everyone present wearing a mask.

Chmerkovskiy dedicated this post to all the mothers raising their children.

“This Mother’s Day, I can’t help but think of and thank all the mothers that support their children. Giving life to a child is hard; being a mother that supports her child is even more difficult.”

The video has gained 1.7 million views and over 2,000 comments, praising the child’s stellar performance.

As the caption of his post read, Chmerkovskiy could not agree more.

“Coming back from another weekend of working with young men and women, I am once again impressed by the discipline and talent that is out there; that’s a sign of some amazing mothers.”

Talent can come naturally, but it can also be grown with the help of love and support from family, friends, and, yes, teachers.
