In 1966, a songwriter named John Denver wrote what has become one of the most notoriously famous goodbye songs for travelers and those about to depart.

“Leaving on a jet plane” has been played in the background of many commercials and movies and is one of those songs that is easy on the ears and fun to sing along to. Even Peter, Paul, and Mary recorded their version of it.

John was an actor, environmentalist, and humanitarian, too.

His career spanned four decades, and his music covered many different genres and trends throughout that time. His music has been very popular amongst the public and has earned him many awards.

John is still a beloved figure to this day, and his songs are unmistakably recognizable when played on the radio. The many aspiring musicians who choose to cover his songs are a testament to his timelessness.

This cute little girl is named Gail Sophicha. She was eight years old when this video of her was recorded which should make her approximately fourteen years old now. Her acoustic cover of “Leaving on a jet plane” is so beautiful and endearing, and we can’t wait for you to hear it.

Thailand’s Got Talent was Gail’s big stardom moment, and it helped her to become popular with audiences all across the nation and around the world. Many of Denver’s songs were inspired by his love of nature and his love of family.

He was born with the name Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. but changed it after his friends insisted that a name change would help his music career to take off. Denver ended up taking their advice and decided to take the name of his favorite city in Colorado, where he eventually moved after some time.

We’re not surprised that he fell in love with such a beautiful city, I mean, look at that view!

We’d like to think that Gail would appreciate Denver as much as John Denver did. Perhaps a visit to his favorite city would inspire some new and heartfelt songs out of her.
