“My husband and I thought it would be a good idea to call the police department and see if they could send an officer out.”
One 1 person shows up to their daughter's birthday party so parents call 911
Birthdays are a time of fun and celebration, especially for children. For many kids, it can be the most important day of the year. It’s a time to cherish life, give gifts, and play games with friends. A time that they look forward to all year.
But six-year-old Alyson Antle’s hopes were shattered when her own birthday party coincided with a busy holiday weekend and there were no attendees to be found.
Only one of her friends showed up to the gathering, so her parents did what they could to save the day – they called 911.
….And invited the police!
The cops responded to the distress call and showed up to celebrate with Alyson. They were happy to save the day.
Alyson’s parents, saddened by the turnout, decided not to surrender and attempted to salvage their daughter’s party. They knew that Alyson loved police so they thought it was a fitting idea.
Tiffany Ante, Alyson’s mother commented:
They got on the phone with the Lee’s Summit Police Department in their home of Missouri. And not only did they send one officer, they sent twelve! It was time for the real party to start.
And an unforgettable party it was!
The officers arrived, some with gifts, and gave the little girl the fun time of her dreams. They took turns taking pictures with her, letting her sit in their cars, and letting her turn on their sirens. It was more than Alyson’s parents could’ve ever hoped for.
Her mother confided:
“It was very heart felt I had to hold back the tears at the party, honestly… it was very touching.”
Alyson’s barren birthday party was no sooner turned into a mega-bash. Her disappointment quickly melted away as the police surrounded her and lifted her spirits. The police were happy to oblige as the little girl was interested to learn all about them and what they do.
Her parents were beside themselves. Touched and practically moved to tears, they thanked the police for doing an outstanding job in their community. Her mother made sure the police were thanked.
“We just think that everybody should know how wonderful they are.”
The day was such a success that they ran out of birthday cake, and the only thing left was an abundance of smiles and laughter.
The story didn’t end there, though.
To show her unending appreciation to the police force, Alyson and her mother baked them cookies and brownies. The officers took extreme delight in their act of kindness and spent time hanging out with the grateful family.
Office Scot Collins commented:
“It’s just awesome that she’s taken the time to think about us with all that’s going on in the world right now, it’s really neat.”
Alyson dreams of becoming a police officer herself when she grows up, a dream both her parents and the police force embrace. One thing remains clear, the Lee’s Summit Police Department is a shining example of community commitment, setting a golden standard for police everywhere.
