Lost dog missing for nearly a year making everyone cry after he finally finds his family

When a sweet doggy named Conway went missing nearly a year ago in Highlands County, Florida, his family desperately searched for him to no avail.

Then, exactly 10 months to the day that he had disappeared, Conway suddenly materialized out of nowhere and is now making everyone cry with his amazing story!

When Conway went missing last November, Taylor Butts and her family were beside themselves with grief. They put out signs and made pleas for help finding him on social media, but no one had seen their pup.

As the days turned into weeks, and then months, it looked like Conway would be nothing more than a bittersweet memory.

Miraculously, 10 months after he went MIA, the scrappy, exhausted pooch was found wandering the streets all alone!

No one knew where Conway had gone or what he’d been up to during all the time he had been missing, and even if he wanted to, he had no way of telling us his side of the story.

Still, there were some clues left behind. Conway was carrying a message with him that only someone with the right tools could decipher.

He was fitted with a microchip, which contained all the information needed to find his owners.

Thanks to the contact details that mom Taylor kept updated, this long-lost dog was finally able to reunite with his family!

The Highlands County Sheriff’s Office posted a video clip of the reunion on Facebook, but it came with a cheeky warning:

“WARNING: WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY TEARS SHED WHILE WATCHING THIS VIDEO. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.”

“He was skinny and exhausted and looked almost nothing like the healthy, happy dog he was when he went missing. But he had a microchip. And because of that chip, we were able to make this happen.”

Conway had no idea what was going on when staff allowed him to walk freely through the Sheriff’s office.

But as soon as he spotted mom and dad through the viewing window, his tail wig-wagged like crazy!

Even after all those months, he remembered where his heart really belonged.

In a comment underneath the video, the sheriff’s office said that there was actually more to the story.

Sadly, Conway was “very skinny and had signs of serious neglect” when he was brought into the shelter.

“He was dragging a leash that was attached to a ground anchor. That means that somebody had him tied up, probably not very far from where he was found.”

But now that he’s going back to his real forever home, this lucky love bug will be spoiled like crazy!

Some key points to keep in mind if you ever find a stray dog:

  • Tethering may be illegal where you are.
  • You can’t just keep pets you find wandering around. Legally speaking, pets are property, and keeping them can be considered theft.
  • Turn them into the shelter first, and if they’re not claimed after a certain amount of time, you can legally adopt them.

None of this would have even been possible had it not been for that tiny piece of microchip tech. It costs nearly nothing and has the ability to change lives.
