Lost dog waits for his owners at the same spot for 4 years until they finally show up

Dogs are loyal to the core.

They never seem to forget who they belong to and regardless of time, will remain loyal to their owners.

One dog in Thailand did just that after being separated from his family near a gas station in 2015.

The dog returned to the same spot every day in hopes that he would one day be reunited with them. The gesture is heartwarming and sad. It was surely only a matter of time before he captured the attention of some locals.

Saowalak, a 45-year-old woman, took notice of the dog. Immediately, her instincts kicked in and she fed the dog, always making sure that he had a meal.

She said upon first meeting him, he was skin and bones and appeared to have a skin disease.

She took him to her home one day so she could look after him. But one day, he wandered back to his spot at the side of the road.

Although he only stayed only for a little while, she returned every few days with food and water for him.

Another local, Anuchit Uncharoen, was also concerned about the dog’s wellbeing and decided to post pictures of the dog online in hopes that somebody would claim him.

They named the dog Leo. In the ad, Uncharoen also made sure to mention that the dog sat at the same spot every day. Presumably, the last spot he was with his owners.

The post reached 64-year-old Nang Noi Sittisarn. Her daughter showed her a picture of the dog that looked a lot like a dog she lost named BonBon. They were separated during a car trip.

Sittisarn and her husband drove to Khon Kaen to see their daughter. But on their way back, they somehow lost BonBon.

She said the dog was in the backseat with the window open. They didn’t realize he was missing until they stopped at a gas station. They assumed he must have jumped out of the window at a stoplight.

The couple searched everywhere for BonBon but to no avail. They gave up their search after a week assuming that he might have been struck by a vehicle or killed.

When Sittisarn read that he had waited in the same spot for her after four years, her heart melted. She knew they had to return to retrieve their dog.

They went to pick him up and when they saw him, she called him by his name: BonBon. His tail wagged and he came to her but when it was time to leave, he refused.

BonBon was now Leo and he didn’t want to leave his new home. He seemed to have missed his family but somewhere along the way, he decided to stay with Saowalak and her community.

They, of course, didn’t want to force Leo to come with them. So they said their goodbyes and let him stay at his new home.

But the story doesn’t end there. The two parties decided that Sittisarn and her daughter would come and visit regularly and bring Leo whatever it was he needed.

What a beautiful ending! It’s amazing what the internet community can do and even more amazing to see what people do for one another.

Leo now has two loving families!
