Lost puppy recognizes vet office and waits there for a ride home

Meet Khiew Ngern, the adorable puppy who is making people smile at the ingenious way he asked for help.

When he got lost and couldn’t remember how to get back home, he went to his vet clinic and knocked on the door.

Dogs are world-renowned for their stellar sniffers, but Khiew Ngern (which roughly translates to “silver fang”) probably had a stuffy nose that day.

His puppy GPS must have also been offline because the only trail he managed to pick up was the one that led straight to Phuttaraksa Animal Clinic in Samut Prakan, Thailand.

Whereas most dogs hate going to the vet, this four-month-old hadn’t yet learned that it’s supposed to be an unhappy place.

The bull terrier mix had been going there with his owner since he was born to get his scheduled puppy vaccines, and for him, it probably seemed like a second home.

Surveillance video footage captured the moment the sweet little doggy arrived for an unscheduled walk-in appointment, and his on-screen antics are absolutely adorable.

At first, everyone inside was too busy to notice him. So he waited. And waited. And then waited some more!

It turns out that it was like any other doctor’s appointment, where you have to wait a ridiculous amount of time to be seen.

Khiew Ngern kept himself busy by exploring the area outside.

He was a good boy and didn’t chew on a single flip-flop that people left near the front door.

But he did find a water bowl and some kibble and had himself a mid-afternoon snack. Or at least, we’ll just pretend it was kibble – the chonky blob he seemed to be playing with could have easily been a rat!

When waiting to be noticed didn’t seem to be working, the frustrated doggy pounded his paws on the sliding glass door to get someone’s attention.

After adding in a few persistent barks, his demands to be seen were finally met!

No one was more surprised than staff members when they saw the stray pup without his owner.

They recognized Khiew Ngern from previous office visits and knew exactly who to call to come and pick him up!

It turns out his mom, Sunee Bunwara, lets her dogs roam free while she works at Bai Mai Kitchen. She went looking for him when she realized he was gone, and couldn’t have been happier when the clinic rang her later that evening.

Pets go missing all the time, and it’s always nice when there’s a happy ending.

One Redditor even started a thread in the r/Pets forum asking people to share fun stories about lost pets that were found again.

u/aattanasio2014 explained how the cat of a family friend ran away, came back, and they didn’t even realize it. A few days after their cat got loose, a “different” moggy suddenly showed up at their house, which they took in and fed. After bringing the new kitty to the vet, a scan of its microchip revealed that it was actually the original cat!

In this case, the vet clinic didn’t even need a microchip to find the smol doggo’s owner.

But if he’s smart, the next time the little derp gets “lost” he’ll find his way to the toy store instead.
