'Low tech' grandpa surprises parents by sending funny texts about their baby

Grandparents are some of the best people in the world. That’s just a fact. Many of us have happy memories of hanging out with our grandmas and grandpas, playing games, eating freshly baked cookies, listening to stories, and generally having great times with some of the kindest and most generous people in our lives.

One grandpa is in contention for the ‘Funniest Grandpa of the Year’ award after hilariously trolling a baby’s parents while looking after him.

The baby in question is Ty Waterhouse, and while Ty’s parents were out of town, his grandpa, David, offered to do some babysitting. Little did mom and dad know that the ‘PawPaw’ had a few funny tricks up his sleeve!

David decided to make his daughter and son-in-law laugh by making some funny, meme-like images while looking after Ty and texting them over.

The hilarious grandpa used an old-fashioned flip phone to take the photos, so they’re not quite as clear as they could be, but they’re still super funny!

Stephanie, Ty’s mom, found the photos so funny she decided to share them with the world, and now the story of David the Low-Tech PawPaw has gone viral.

To make the photos, David printed out little funny quotes to place beside eight-month-old Ty.

The quotes ranged from talking about binge watching Sesame Street to meeting girls and even included Ty ‘asking’ his mom and dad if he could get his license early and buy a Jeep!

Each photo is funnier than the last, and even though David isn’t apparently very savvy in terms of modern computers and smartphones, he still put a lot of effort into these images and actually prepared the printed messages in advance!

Yes, David actually planned out this whole prank. Before even driving out to the family home to look after Ty, he’d taken the time to prepare the messages and print them out, as he was worried that he might not be able to work out how to use the family’s printer when he arrived.

That kind of dedication could only come from a grandpa! Ty is so lucky to have such an awesome PawPaw.

And David has quite a fascinating past too.

He was actually a Dallas Police Officer, responsible for creating a special database that was later adopted by the FBI! Stephanie explained it all in an interview with Good Morning America:

My dad is a recently retired Dallas Police Officer. He was actually the person who created the database that tracked information for the Dallas Police Department. The FBI took his idea and modeled one of their national databases after the one he created.

Wow! Not bad for an old timer who don’t have his own Facebook page and says he has no idea what a meme is.

Stephanie and Ty’s dad had a big laugh at all the images, and now we can enjoy them too! Nice job, PawPaw.
