Seeing a sad animal at a shelter or on a viral social media post is always heart-breaking, but this adorable cat is an exception to the rule.

Luhu constantly looks like he’s crying, but you can be sure he’s a happy cat!

Even if his facial expression says otherwise.

His big sad eyes are hard to forget – they’re like the feline equivalent of ‘puppy dog eyes’. Can we call them ‘kitten cat eyes’?

Absolutely not… it doesn’t have the same ring to it.

He does bear a striking resemblance to one of our favorite cartoon cats, though. Does this guy look familiar?

Can we call them Puss in Boots eyes? Or are there copyright issues?

Either way… just look at this little guy’s face!

He looks like he’s perpetually on the verge of tears.

His unique look has helped him reach more than 160,000 Instagram followers. He’s the most adorable pet-influencer and his face just makes you want to give him a hug.

You would think he’s just come home from a long day at the cat office. He looks so put out! Or like he’s just heard some really bad news.

Don’t you just have the urge to tell him everything is going to be okay? He’s breaking my heart.

Luhu lives in Beijing with his owner, Maggie Liu, who gives him the world.

She gets constant messages from people across the globe, telling her how much they adore her beautiful cat. There have even been strangers who have loved Luhu’s melancholy looks so much that they’ve painted fan art!

Even when she crowned him a prince (on his brother’s birthday, not his!), he still looked like he was having a bad time.

Cats don’t have it that hard. They get to sleep all day, lay in the sun, they eat for free, and their generous owners don’t even charge them rent! A deal most of us could only dream of.

And Luhu looks like he lives a better life than most cats. His mom sometimes dresses him up in adorable costumes, and he is given special treats like shrimp!

But even a delicious snack can’t put a smile on this little guy’s face.

Luhu was born with some developmental defects which brought him to the vet hospital when he was just two weeks old.

He has a weak respiratory system, and he can’t see well out of one eye.

Maggie adopted him after he had been in the hospital for about three weeks, and has cared for him through three major surgeries.

It’s not always easy, but his owner loves him so much she’s willing to do anything to give him the best life possible.

Every now and then he’ll have a big party night and get a little silly!

Look at his hilarious reaction to even just the smell of wine, according to his mom. I think we’ve all looked a little bit like this before.

Luhu is seven years old but still looks like a little kitten. A tired, depressed kitten, but a kitten none the less.

Maybe it’s because his tongue is always hanging out, or because his big round eyes make him look so youthful!

Don’t let this “birthday girl” hat and pink cake fool you, Luhu is definitely a boy!
