When you lose a pet, it can be like losing a best friend. There are few worse things than the emptiness that accompanies the weeks after the loss.

One mailman had recently lost his dog.

Losing his dog, one mailman was down in the dumps. Things were rough and his workdays dragged on as his heart was heavy. What made it even harder was that his delivery route always included dogs. Every day he would be reminded about his friend who had passed.

This went on for some time until he met Moose.

A golden retriever named Moose was a part of the route the man would take every day. While most dogs would watch the mailman come and even bark at him, Moose wanted to make a friend.

Every day the mailman would walk to the porch, Moose was there to say hello.

Always looking for a scratch and a pet, Moose and the mailman developed a habit of seeing each other on the route! Soon, trust was developed and they started their own little friendship!

Moose’s owner would watch from her window to see their interactions.

She could tell that the mailman was looking for a friend. Watching through her window, she noticed that her furry friend had made a special friend. Wanting to remember the moment, she filmed it!

Every day, Moose would sit and wait for the mailman to arrive!

Watching out the window, Moose would wait for his friend to show up so he could go and say hi! He could always tell when the truck was close and would get excited! Whenever he would get close, Moose would get let out and run to see his friend!

There was probably some healing that needed to happen. Moose was happy to oblige.

After a loss, there is a grieving process that can’t be ignored. Many people go out and immediately get another pet, bypassing the important grief portion. This mailman was able to grieve a little better with his friend, Moose.

Even though they may not be registered, all dogs are therapy dogs!

Dogs make the best listeners and cuddle partners. This combination makes for the ideal therapy dog! Even if someone doesn’t have a “registered” therapy dog, they can attest to the emotional support that a dog can bring. One comment on the video said:

“I believe that the dog is doing something more than just playing, after hearing that the mailman recently lost his dog.”

The heartwarming video was viewed over 750,000 times!
