Owners’ hearts melt as they see mama dog giving extra love to the pup that needs it most

Even though we’re pretty sure that this mother loves all of her adorable children equally, there is one of her puppies who needed a bit of extra attention and care – and mama dog was more than happy to provide her with that.

Meet the lovable labrador Daisy Duke, who recently gave birth to eight cute puppies.

Luckily, Daisy’s owners were more than willing to help care for all of the puppies, although Daisy Duke sees it as her motherly duty to care for them all herself. Yet there was always one puppy who seemed to be getting a sort of special treatment, the tiniest and weakest newborn of the group. Daisy’s human family started to notice this as well, and they decided to grab a camera and capture the heartwarming motherly love on tape.

The pet owners also uploaded the footage on the internet, where it has already been seen over five million times!

In fact, Daisy Duke is one-fourth of the popular YouTube channel ‘Life With Labradors’, which currently has almost 200,000 subscribers. They all get regular video updates on Daisy Duke, her puppies but also her siblings Chief, Nike, and Bear. One thing is for sure: there are a whole lot of adorable dogs in this family!

You’ll see videos of the puppies trying out their first treats, them getting their first bath or playing around with their new toys. The whole channel is just filled with ‘pawsome’ moments that will put a smile on everyone’s face.

Of course, one of the most heartwarming videos and also the most popular one is the one where Daisy Duke gives her tiniest newborn some extra care.

She gave birth to four black puppies and four white ones, and one of those white ones was the runt.

Daisy knew that the weakest animal of the group, which was named Lucy, needed some special treatment in order to be as well-fed as the other puppies. The owners caught Daisy Duke snuggling with Lucy separately, keeping her warm and giving her lots of kisses. Mom also made sure that Lucy would have everything she needs.

The owners found out about the special motherly treatment after they counted the puppies and only could find seven. A bit later, they found Lucy, number eight, right off the side along with mom Daisy. She was taken somewhere safe by her mom where she could be nursed in all safety.

Daisy’s human family has warm words for her, as they think the heartwarming dog has “been the best mom ever.”

Seeing this kind of motherly behavior in animal groups is definitely not a given.

In fact, many pet owners of dogs with newborns have to intervene to make sure everyone gets their nutrition as the weakest child of the group can have difficulty competing with his or her siblings for food. Sometimes, the runt is even completely ignored by the mother because she’d rather focus on her stronger children. Incredibly harsh, but it’s a form of natural selection and survival of the fittest.

However, Daisy wouldn’t have any of that – she takes care of all of her children and it’s absolutely adorable and sweet.

“That’s the first time I have seen the runt be taken care of like this. Daisy is a wonderful mama! Sweet family,” YouTuber Kaye H commented.

“I have watched this video several times and it never fails to make me smile. Daisy is such a beautiful mom,” Feb C. added.
