Man abandons dog in middle of the night after tying him to neighbor’s tree with a note
“I trust you with my baby. I’m sorry.”
When a woman stepped out to her yard, she didn’t expect to be at the receiving end of a desperate plea.
On her property, she saw a pit bull whose leash was tied to a tree.
The dog was not hers or was not intended to be hers through the virtue of a gift or favor to satisfy.
The dog was also muzzled and the reason for that was revealed to her by the final clue she recovered.
The Pitbull was abandoned by her owner.
Lincoln the pit bull was left behind by his owner. He was muzzled maybe to make sure that he does not bite. But in doing so, his previous owner also deprived him of his ability to eat and fend for himself.
One can’t help but suspect that the previous owner left him deliberately in their neighbor’s yard.
It was a suspicion that can be further supported by the note they left with Lincoln.
The note says:
“I am leaving for California to be with my mother and brother during this pandemic. Please take care of Lincoln, or find him a good home. I trust you with my babe. I’m sorry.”
The heartbreaking letter shed light on the grim reality of the pandemic.
As the first wave of the pandemic crashed on different shores, lockdowns and isolation were imposed quicker than people could react.
This left people jobless, isolated, and unable to take care of themselves and their pets.
Unintended consequences
Pet abandonment increased in the opening months of the pandemic and continued as restrictions began easing.
People who were too quick to adopt found themselves juggling their new responsibilities and realized they were unable to.
There are also some who just surrendered altogether and relied on their pets’ fate to chance.
It was just unfortunate that Lincoln was left under those circumstances and in a shape where he can’t even eat or drink.
Fortunately, Lincoln was surrounded by kind souls.
The woman who found Lincoln brought the pit bull inside her home where he could stay for some food and hydration.
She then contacted the Pittie Party of Central Florida to ask for help.
Lincoln was taken in by Mayson Jones
He’s one of the volunteers from the organization. She brought the pit bull into her home and noticed how confused he was.
She suspected that Lincoln was missing his family. As for Lincoln, Jones only had good things to say.
“He loves balls and any sort of toy he can chew up,” Jones told The Dodo. “He’s very affectionate. Loves people — men, women, kids — and is not standoffish at all.”
Things would look up for Lincoln eventually. As posted by The Pittie Party of Central Florida, their post about Lincoln blew up.
People from across the world inquired about him and his condition. After a year of being surrendered to the organization, Lincoln found his forever home.
“Lincoln is so happy in his forever home with the Copley’s and spends his days boating with his family and being a total goofball. He is living the life now and we hope you all enjoy this fun pupdate.” The organization said in their Facebook post.
Lincoln deserved all the love, and love he finally received.
