Homeless man and his dog’s lives are changed after kind man offers them some food

Sometimes one simple act of kindness can be enough to change a person’s life. It is one of the most beautiful parts of life that we have the ability to help one another at any given moment.

One person on Reddit who goes by the username Nvidator did exactly that one day and then shared his story online.

The man wrote about noticing a man and his dog sitting on the curb behind a building.

“Last week I was having breakfast at Chik-fil-a and as I was sitting in my truck eating I noticed a homeless guy sitting on the curb behind the building with his dog. He was holding a sign asking for money or food donations to help feed him and his dog (did not look like a druggy or alchy just an older man down on his luck). I observed him the entire time I ate my breakfast, he mostly just sat there scratching his mutt and holding the sign while people drove past ignoring them.”

The man continued to say that after he finished his breakfast he decided to make another run through the drive-thru and picked up something for the man.

He pulled up alongside them and handed the man the food.

He also handed him a small bag of dog food he had.

Thankful for being treated humanely.

The man was thankful for the food but became emotional when he was handed the small bag of dog food.

After regaining his composure, the man said that it had been so long since somebody had treated him like a human.

Offering the man work.

Nvidator wasn’t done helping the man either. He asked him if he would be willing to put in a decent day’s work for an honest day’s pay.

The man straightened up immediately and said that he would be the hardest worker he’d ever seen.

They made a deal to meet in the same spot the next morning, and he would put him to work.

They met the next morning and drove to the job site. The user on Reddit said the man really was a hard worker.

“He wasn’t kidding about being a hard worker this guy carried wood around and fetched tools out of my truck for me all day without complaining once, his dog just shadowed him the entire time.”

At the end of the day, they went to the bank and the man was paid $80 for his work.

Having a rough time of it.

While working, the man explained that he had lost his wife in a car accident. That his home of 35 years had been repossessed and that he had no children or family.

He was staying at a campground and had a bunch of his possessions stolen.

One day after work, the man asked to be dropped off at the campsite where he had been staying.

With the money he’d made working he had been able to afford camping supplies so that neither he nor his dog would have to sleep on the cold ground.

A changed man.

That one simple act of kindness led to a completely changed life for the man.

“When I left him last night he looked like a different person then the man I saw hanging his head in shame behind Chick-fil-a. He promised me he would be there for me next week if I needed him and although my job-site is going to be on the other side of town next week I have already decided to continue going out of my way to pick him up and put him to work.”
