Every day, the kid would set off the owner’s motion detector camera. It was pissing the owner off. Luckily, he managed to sort it out without upsetting the kid.

When you’re a little kid, it can be hard to understand the concept of private property.

Why can’t the world just be one big playground, right?

Well, one homeowner had a neighborhood child who felt this way. Every day, the kid would ride his bike over his driveway.

From the kid’s point of view, it was just a fun area to bike around. He didn’t realize that he was setting off his neighbor’s motion detector camera. Often, the homeowner would get an alert while he was at work. He’d look and see the kid biking up and down the driveway.

At first, the owner let it happen. After all, it was just a kid. But then he kept on getting alert after alert.

So he decided to do something about it.

Overnight, the owner started adding something to his driveway that the kid was sure to react to. What was it?

It was a racetrack!

The next day, the kid saw the racetrack and was amazed. How did this get onto the driveway?

The kid followed the arrow at the start of the racetrack and stuck within the lines. He loved it!

The kid’s mom realized that the owner had added this racetrack overnight.

She was happy to see that the owner was not just ok with her boy riding around the driveway but actually making it more fun for him!

Of course, eventually, it rained, and the chalk racetrack washed away.

But the owner just saw this as an excuse to draw another track!

The second version of the track had more twists and turns.

It also had little messages written next to the track to encourage the child. The owner did not know the child’s name, so he also didn’t know if the kid could yet read. But he figured that writing the messages was fun anyway.

The kid loved the new version of the racetrack. In fact, his dogs looked a little jealous as he zipped along.

This time, when the kid reached the end of the track, he and his dad waved up at the camera. Clearly, they appreciated what the owner had done!

Then the rain washed the track away again. So the owner just built yet another course. And again, and again!

And then something even more amazing happened.

More kids and even adults started riding along the track.

The owner then uploaded a video of the racetrack and the people using it to YouTube. It soon went viral.

To date, the video has gained over 14 million views. It also has almost 400,000 likes and more than 35,000 comments. People have been saying things like this:

It would have been so easy for the owner to have just put a sign up that said “No biking on the driveway.”

But instead, he saw an opportunity to make someone’s day.

If only everyone could take this approach! Sure, the video alerts were a little annoying at first.

But by making a racetrack on his driveway, he ensured that he would enjoy seeing the footage and the kid would enjoy biking even more. Amazing!
