Ever had that moment where you said “Nope.” and then quickly went back the way you came?

Alaska is known as one of the last great frontiers for a reason. It’s a perfect mix of sparsely dense neighborhoods that are surrounded by immense and untamable wildlife.

As such, it can’t be helped that animals find their way into human settlement. And this man just got a bit up close and personal with one.

Curtis Phelps was just minding his own business and doing his fair share of chores.

As someone who took out the trash while the sun was just peeking at the horizon and in the middle of frigid temperatures, Phelps deserved a stress-free day.

He casually approached their garbage shed just a few steps away from their house. Little did he know, this will be the last time he’ll see the outside world.

He went into the shed, not knowing what was trailing behind him.

With his back facing the world outside, there was no chance for him to notice their lawn’s wildlife visitor.

A full-grown moose waltzes into the home security camera’s view and it seems like it saw Phelps go into the shed.

The moose slowly approached where Phelps was.

Still oblivious to what was happening outside, Phelps fixed the garbage, maybe patted himself for a job well done, and went outside the shed to start his day.

As he turned around, he saw the moose walking toward him. He was stunned for a quick second, but when he noticed that the moose was walking faster, he calmly opens the shed then goes back in to take shelter, and “nopes” the heck out of there.

The moose, meanwhile, just sniffed the lock and stood there.

The security video didn’t show what was happening inside the shed, but according to FOX News, Phelps was literally calling, or more specifically, making a call for help.

Amy Phelps, Curtis’ wife saw her phone light up to his husband’s call attempt. She ignored it, though, thinking it was butt-dialed.

Phelps then called their 13-year-old daughter.

She was fast asleep, though, and she didn’t even notice her phone ringing. Finally, his wife picked up his third call which gave him the chance to explain the situation.

His wife then rushed to the window and confirmed that the moose was already on the other side of the street.

Phelps sprinted back into the hose where his wife was laughing throughout the “ordeal”.

They believed that the moose was one of the calves born in their backyard just a couple of years back before the incident. They suspect that he was just inspecting his old stomping grounds.

One of the biggest crimes the moose did was to eat a Christmas wreath. This year, he’s wanted for slightly damaging the shed and scaring the heck out of Phelps.

Moose are common in the northern parts of the American continent.

Officials warn that these animals can cause damage due to their sheer size. As you can see on the video, a full-sized bull moose stands at the same height as an average human.

“If a moose does charge, don’t wait to find out if it’s bluffing. Run and get behind something solid, like a tree, or retreat to a safe place, like inside a building or car.” The Alaska Department of Fish and Game said.
