Music can unite people like nothing else. This video perfectly displays that unity.

Almost all social gatherings involve music, whether it’s a sports game, a party or just a casual meet up with friends.

There’s always music (and often singing) involved in those events. We can sometimes overlook just how important music is to our lives. But the people who were in the park on this day really showed why it’s important.

It all began when one man sat on a park bench. He started singing one of his favorite songs, Livin’ On A Prayer by Bon Jovi.

When he got to the lyric “She said we’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got,” the people gathered on the ground in front of him started singing along with him.

And the lyrics kept on spreading. Soon, the entire park was singing Livin’ On A Prayer in unison.

And when it was time for the lyrics “Whoooahoh, we’re halfway there,” Everyone got louder and raised their arms.

Sadly, the video of this event cut out there. The person recording then uploaded it to YouTube.

He wasn’t expecting the video to go viral. In just under a month, the video has managed to gain over 1.5 million views. It also has over 13,000 likes and 500 comments. People have been saying things like this:

The person who filmed this amazing moment, Matej Priterznik, later told Bored Panda that he had to put the video online so “everyone can see that there is compassion in this world.”

It’s fitting that the song Livin’ On A Prayer is what the crowd sings in this clip. It has a very long history of uniting people. And the song is ideal for this purpose, as it’s about universal ideals. Jon Bon Jovi has said that the song is about how two people face life’s struggles and “how their love and ambitions get them through the hard times.” Everyone can relate to that. Almost anyone has to overcome struggles throughout their life. And we all support one another through these difficult times.

Of course, there are a few other songs that are able to get as strong a public reaction as Livin’ On A Prayer, but not many.

Hey Jude by The Beatles, Bohemian Rhapsody and Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen, Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd and a few others have the same uniting, energizing power as Livin’ On A Prayer.

Jon Bon Jovi and the rest of Bon Jovi must be humbled indeed to see that their song has gone on to become such a force for good in the world.

Sure, the band members have made a lot of money thanks to Livin’ On A Prayer, but the thing that musicians really want is for their art to really mean something to those who hear it. Can anyone deny that Livin’ On A Prayer means a lot to countless people after watching videos like the park singalong?

Please SHARE this with your friends and family.
