Man brings mom and baby koala to safety after finding them in danger

Contrary to what most people believe in, Koalas don’t live in deserts or rainforests. They actually love in tall eucalypt forests as well as low eucalypt woodlands in Australia. Unfortunately, their habitats have changed a lot, causing a lot of koalas to wander in places they shouldn’t be in. This greatly puts their safety at risk.
When a man saw a mom and a baby koala in the middle of a highway, he knew they needed help.

Getting caught in the middle of a highway isn’t safe for koalas and other animals. There’s the risk of getting run over by passing vehicles. Plus, they may never find their way home.

The koalas looked confused and it’s not surprising. With car lights and engine sounds, they might have been stunned and scared. It was a good thing that a man stopped to help.
The man was patient with the koalas.

He knew that they weren’t used to human contact so he made sure not to rush them. He offered his hand and allowed them to smell it and be familiar with his scent.
Then, the koalas started crossing the street.

However, they seemed to be confused about their environment. They stopped in the middle of one lane and stared at the cars.
The man had to guide them.
After a while, the koalas started heading towards the trees. It’s safe to assume that they were able to find their home, thanks to the helpful man.

The need for more houses for the growing population has driven more urban development.
This is bad news for koalas.
With more buildings and concrete streets, they’ll have fewer trees and green areas to live in. These changes can leave them stressed and in danger.
In a recently published research, however, experts believe that koalas can actually co-exist with humans. This will largely depend on people’s ability and willingness to give them the time, space, and freedom they need to adapt. Humans will need to let koalas perform their biological and physiological functions without pressure to allow them to survive.
You see, wildlife species need access to proper and suitable green habitats in the cities. Without it, they become at risk of death and even extinction.
We can help koalas by making sure that there’s enough food, water, and shelter for them. If they fail to have access to these things, they will certainly show signs of stress. They can get sick, unable to eat, and die.
Innovative solutions are necessary.
Making safe green spaces for koalas is extremely important. The same is true for small mammals, birds, and other wildlife species. Urban planning should include ways to incorporate these green spaces to increase the survival of those species.
While the two koalas were able to get to a safe place, there’s no guarantee that they won’t be out on the streets again. Hopefully, another kind man will be there to get them out of trouble.
