Man builds kitty towers for his cats that go so viral he’s selling the plans

Of course, we all know that cats just love to hang around in high places, and some of them will just do anything they can to reach even higher places.

It turns out that it’s natural for cats to try and find higher vantage points, as it allows them to map the territory around them.

If they’re scared of something in the house, you’ll likely find them jumping on bookshelves or other high furniture.

Luckily, even though sometimes cats fall from considerable heights, felines are considered to be quite the acrobats and usually don’t get hurt.

One cat owner from Windows, Connecticut decided to make his own high cat building, and the structure is so amazing that it actually went viral.

In fact, people even started asking if he would sell the plans to them!

The cat owner, Rob Coutu, figured that his cats needed to have a bit of a playground inside of the home.

Go home or go big, he must’ve thought, because this man designed two amazing cat towers which are interconnected with a bridge, and it’s just about the most impressive cat building we’ve seen in years.

It took a while before the whole structure was built.

Rob first modeled the whole thing in a three-dimensional architecture program before he started building the foundations.

“I have two cats, a red tabby and a Savannah cat,” the man told Bored Panda.

When he first started building the towers, one of the cats apparently liked it so much that he tried to prevent the other one from coming inside!

Luckily, the situation seems to be better at the moment, and it’s not like there’s not enough room for both of them – especially when Rob started constructing the second cat tower!

The cat buildings are large, well-designed, nicely decorated, and crafted with the cats’ comfort in mind – describing it as ‘amazing’ doesn’t really come close.

Rob was actually inspired by a piece of art made by someone else.

It was a sort of tree that looked fairly real but was still man-made. He tried to build a tree-like structure at first, but that proved to be more complicated than he thought.

The man actually works as a BIM manager and has experience with ‘regular’ buildings, so he decided to lean on his years of experience and build something familiar that would be appealing for both felines and humans.

He also knows that buildings have to be functional, so he adapted the design of the second tower to accommodate the needs of his cats better.

“The larger tower was built last and is almost complete,” Rob said. “It incorporates some design changes based on how the cats interacted with the first one, such as the balconies and the deck landings. The dormer came from Zach, the Savannah, always looking up inside the roof of the other one.”

The project isn’t completely finished yet, but Rob has already spent more than 3,500 dollars on his ambitious cat project.

Of course, we can’t forget the amount of labor and effort that Rob has put into this, but if his cats are happy, so is he.

“Zach has been very involved from the start. I can’t even find a word that best describes how much he loves it and how much he uses it.”

The “Kitty Towers”‘, as Rob likes to call them, have gone viral on the internet.

As of right now, he is planning to sell the blueprints to people interested in building their own kitty towers.

He’ll likely design custom blueprints and is also considering installing them at home after the coronavirus pandemic passes.
