Remember that opening scene from “UP” where you felt like love was perfect and sweet and never-ending? It’s not always a young couple like you see in other movies. Sometimes, it’s just normal old people with crazy, inspirational love!

Some people have just found love. You don’t always see it, but you can definitely experience it. Pay attention, you might find a special appreciation for the people you love and hold close.

Introducing the couple

These people have been together for upwards of 50 years. They have ridden the rollercoaster of marriage and experienced ups and downs. But their commitment to each other has never wavered, and it’s great to see how their marriage has progressed from the beginning.

2004 was a different story

Glad was diagnosed recently with Alzheimer’s. Many illnesses are terrible, but Alzheimer’s comes with an added hurt. Pretty soon her personal health and wellness started to deteriorate.

An extremely challenging season

These two had always been going about their busy days with recreation and plenty of times spent outdoors. But now, things just weren’t the same. With Mrs. Glad contracting Alzheimers, Bill was worried their time spent doing outdoor activities was coming to a close.

Bill decided to take action

Finally, he came up with an idea. Bill didn’t want to lose the woman he biked with every day. So he knew he needed to take action!

Bill knew his wife couldn’t ride her own bike, so he wanted to find a way to take her with him. He built his very own bike chair. It is basically a simple bike but has an extra chair for his wife to sit in.

Now nothing can keep them apart

Glad’s disease is definitely getting worse, but the couple still go on bike rides everywhere. They enjoy riding to the beach, park, and other places around the city.

This was very important to Bill

People wanted to understand why he built the bike. He mentioned, “I used to ride everywhere on my bike and Glad had her bike as well, and we’d put a bay chair on the front of her bike, so we carried our babies around on the bikes. Bikes have been part of our lives, and I guess that has something to do with this now.”

Bill loves Glad so much

Bill shows love to his beautiful wife. He reported, “I don’t count it a burden whatsoever, I count it a great privilege to care for this one I have loved all these years. She’s my princess and I’m her William and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

The dynamic duo

The awesome duo wants to show more people the opportunities that come through this bike, they created the “Bike Chair Team”. This bike will be recreated for people that have mobility issues like Mrs. Glad.

Beautiful love

What an incredible story. The love between the duo is evident between Bill and Glad. We envision the duo biking for many more years.
