Man uses downtime to create a tiny restaurant for the wildlife in his yard

Now that we are all in quarantine, we sure have plenty of time on our hands. To keep themselves from going crazy, people have been doing lots of different things to fill their time.

Some have been baking delicious bread while others have been taking up new hobbies or finally catching up on all those movies they’ve been wanting to watch.

A man named James Vreeland, who lives in Detroit, decided to get really creative with his time.

Vreeland has a lot of wildlife in his backyard at home — like squirrels and birds — and he loves caring for them and feeding them. Now that he is in self-isolation, he had the time he wouldn’t normally have to go the extra mile for those animals.

The man decided to go as far as to build a miniature restaurant for the animals. There, he can feed them. He even created tiny menus with a couple of options for them so that they can choose which meal like would like to eat.

The restaurant is called Maison De Noix (a fancy French name that translates to “The Nut House”) and serves a couple of different things, from seeds to nuts. You know, the usual snacks that these animals love.

“We’ve been offering an opening course of a seed medley, followed by peanuts on the full shell, house-cut breadsticks, and a dessert of counter-softened apples,” the restaurant owner shared.

It’s amazing how much attention to detail there is, too. The restaurant has a tiny entrance with a stand for a hostess. There is also a menu outside and some mini statues on the inside. Squirrels and birds need a fancy French atmosphere, too!

There are also little benches — seriously, they are tiny — but just the perfect size for any animal who wants to join the party in the yard.

The full menu reads: mixed seed trio, stale bread/pizza crust, raw peanuts (on the full shell), counter softened apples.

While Vreeland hasn’t really been making any kind of profit from the operation, there is no doubt that it has become the new hot spot in the neighborhood.

The response from humans has been pretty great with people stopping all the time to take a photo or watch the frenzy,” he continued.

Maison de Noix is definitely not short of customers. Business his booming, Vreeland shares, and there have been so many wonderful responses to it on Instagram, where he shared several photos of his new creation.

“We’ve got a ton of tamed squirrels, they would LOVE that,” one person commented. “Core ala Apple is popular at our place as well as a late breakfast le 2nd day pancake or belgium waffle choice.”

“I love everything about this, you are wonderful,” someone else wrote. “We only have 1 squirrel picnic table and have enjoyed it for the past week! You took this concept to the next level,” another person shared.

Honestly, we are hoping that more people start to do this for the animals in their yard. It can be one of the few wonderful things to come from quarantine!

Please SHARE this with your friends and family.
