Chris wanted to know what household items worked the best at defogging car windows. So he tried a couple of different products.

To ensure that each method was accurately compared, Chris taped one car window into different sections.

This would allow him to test each solution with the same foggy window.

On the top left of the window, he applied Rain X interior glass anti-fog with a paper towel.

On the top right of the window, he sprayed a little Gilette shaving cream. Then he rubbed the shaving cream into the glass with the paper towel. On the bottom left of the window, he applied Johnson’s baby shampoo with another paper towel. On the bottom center of the window he applied the cut open inside of a potato to the glass. On the bottom right of the glass, he applied Softsoap hand sanitizer with a paper towel. He also rubbed each part of the window clean with different paper towels.

Then he got some steaming hot water to intentionally try and fog up the windows.

After a couple of seconds, it was clear which solutions worked the best.

Both the Rain X and the shaving cream had done an almost perfect job of keeping the window from fogging up.

The baby shampoo had left a residue on the glass. The potato also left a residue on the glass. Lastly, the hand sanitizer section of the window had completely fogged up.

So if you want to stop you windows from fogging up, forget baby shampoo, potatoes or hand sanitizer, and go for shaving cream.

Shaving cream is definitely cheaper than the Rain X, meaning that you could save a lot of money. If only shaving cream were as cheap as potatoes!
