Unfortunately, there are countless homeless cats and dogs in the world, and almost all of them are constantly looking for a nice and comfortable place to spend their days.

Not every four-footer is lucky to be rescued, taken into a shelter, or be adopted. Some of them have to survive completely on their own and have been on the streets for years.

Rodrigo Coelho was simply going to the pharmacy with his wife, but when both of them returned to the car, they were in for quite a surprise.

When they opened the car door, they saw an adorable stray dog looking at them with an excited expression on his face.

“My wife opened the door to enter [the car] and this dog came along as if he knew us,” the couple said to The Dodo.

And it seems like the pup was actually pretty tired as well because not long after he hopped into Coelho’s car, he decided to start napping.

“He got into my car without any worries, sat on the seat, and didn’t want to leave again,” the man told Bored Panda.

It definitely looked like the four-footer was in need of some comfort and a warm place.

The smell was terrible and you could just tell that this canine wasn’t feeling a hundred percent. His paws had injuries and his nails were also completely worn-down, and he was clearly exhausted as well.

There was not a single doubt in the minds of Rodrigo and his wife: they needed to help out this tired pooch in need.

“He settled on the car floor and slept,” Rodrigo added. “He seemed relieved to find a safe place to rest.”

Rodrigo figured that he might just be lost, and could still have owners looking for him.

They decided to take the dog back home, and take care of him for a little while in the meantime. Unfortunately, one of the family dogs didn’t seem to get along with this stray because he had too much energy.

“My dogs were frightened because [the dog] is very busy and playful, but there were no fights,” Rodrigo said. “Soon, he was already familiar with the environment and my other dogs accepted him.”

The couple made sure to take lots of pictures and videos of the pup, just in case someone was looking for him.

Things were a little bit easier since Rodrigo already had a very large Instagram following, and it didn’t take long before footage of this car-infiltrating stray went viral on the internet.

Plenty of people started commenting that the dog looked familiar, and with each new comment, they were a bit closer to narrowing down where this pooch came from.

Luckily, good news soon arrived. Not long after one of the videos went viral on YouTube, with hundreds of thousands of views, the dog’s original owner contacted the couple!

It turns out that this lovely dog had been missing for a while and listens to the name Thor.

Apparently, he ran away from the family home and managed to wander off a couple of miles.

Owners Dayane and Maicon couldn’t thank this lovely couple enough, who were so kind to take care of Thor in the meantime and did everything they could to reunite the pooch with his owners.

“Thor was happy to find his family, it was very evident. He recognized the couple, the car and even his canine friend who came along.”

“It made me sure that the right thing was done,” Rodrigo concluded, “and everything turned out well.”
