An enthusiastic cyclist named Chris loves going to mountain biking adventures. On a biking trail in Fernie, British Columbia, he experienced the scariest adventure of his life.

As he went on with his bike, he encountered a mountain lion.

He described the lion as a quiet one but he started to walk near him as he noticed that he is being captured by his camera.

“There is a mountain lion,” he says, “scratching in the grass.” Later on he admits “This is really freaky!”

Chris started to get scared as the lion started to walk toward him. In the video, viewers cannot vividly see the lion as it is too far and he is hiding behind the tall grass but as it progresses, you can see the animal approaching.

Chris is aware that the cougar is stalking him and his demeanor is calm toward the animal.

The two remained quiet but when the lion started to walk slowly approaching Chris, he said it’s “so crazy” and starts to back off.

Scared as he is, he didn’t run which is a good thing to do when encountering a predator or something like a mountain lion.

Chris backs off but did not run. He remained relaxed and tried to show that he is “the boss”.

The lion stopped walking but remained to look at Chris. He probably is thinking of his next moves and might attack the man. Chris started to talk to the lion to show that he is not afraid of him and, in a way, to calm himself too.

“Hey Mr. Mountain Lion!” he says, “How are you doing? Nice to see you!”

The lion started to walk towards him again while Chris is trying to persuade him that he is much bigger than he is.

The mountain lion is still moving and hides in the trees. The disappearance of the lion is the scariest part as without having an eye-to-eye connection would mean danger and cannot foresee what will be the next move. Then he growls which makes it scarier.

With a panicked voice, Chris asked, “Where are you going?” The cougar growled back showing his authority over Chris and a way of telling him that he should not be messing with him.

The video is cut and get started again showing the lion coming back in a different direction but clearly approaching the man and said:

“This cat… he’s coming back. This is unbelievable.”

The lion is approaching Chris is telling him to stay back with a loud voice. Meanwhile, Chris is taking his turn to come towards the cougar which makes him uncomfortable so he backs off and leaves for a while.

Chris is lucky as he knew what to do and how to escape this kind of encounter. Unlike many of us who will surely be in a panic if this will happen. Watch the entire heart-pounding video below.
