Man in first-class turns to female officer and says “Sorry ma’am, I’m in your seat”
Flying just seems to bring out the worst in people. There is no shortage of airplane horror stories involving inconsiderate passengers, lost luggage, or lengthy flight delays. On very rare occasions, however, touching stories like this one take place.
Jessica Titus was boarding a flight when she witnessed someone make a kind gesture.
The story was later shared to the Facebook page, Love What Matters, and went viral.
Boarding her flight behind an Army Servicewoman.
There is something about lining up to board a flight that just seems to bring out everyone’s bad side. People seem so stressed and motivated to get to their seats as soon as possible despite the fact this won’t make the flight take off any faster.
Jessica was boarding her flight when she witnessed a man do something very kind for the Army Servicewoman in front of her.
A man who was already in his first-class seat stopped the Army Servicewoman as she was looking for her seat. According to this man, he was actually in the woman’s seat, but how could he know this?
In fact, the man was not actually sitting in the woman’s seat.
He simply wanted to offer the uniformed officer his first-class seat out of appreciation for her service.
Jessica posts on Facebook about the kind act she witnessed.
Jessica would later describe what she witnessed on her Facebook page:
“On my flight Tuesday, I walked down the jetway behind a woman in uniform (Army). A man stood up from his 1st class seat and said, ‘Sorry ma’am, I’m in your seat.’ ‘What does your ticket say?’ He asked.”
The Army Servicewoman did not understand, initially.
The woman did not quite get what was happening at first. She informed the man that he was not actually sitting in her seat.
“She replied, ‘What? No – I’m 31 B.’”
Instead of actually explaining what was going on, however, the man just got up and walked to 31 B and sat down. He left his first-class seat for her to sit in. If he had stayed to explain the situation, it might have given the woman a chance to talk him out of it. He gave her no such opportunity, however.
“He walked away, leaving her with his first class seat and then took her middle seat in coach.”
One good deed deserves another.
Jessica was touched by the man’s kind gesture and decided to do something nice for him. She slipped the man a note along with some money.
“Seat 31 B – Please accept a drink or snack on me. If everyone treated people the way you treated the servicewoman, the world would be a better place.”
The man did not accept the offer, however.
