Man on the way to grocery store discovers disheveled dog with note on collar
Lionel Vytialingam was on his way to get groceries when he discovered a “dissolved” dog running around in the middle of the street. Recognizing that this was not safe for the little girl, he got out of his car to see if he could help.
“She had no idea what she was doing or where she was going,” Vytialingam said to The Dodo. “There were cars and bikes going along the street and she was walking right into them like she thought they were family.”
The dog was clearly not scared of humans and ran right up to him. Lionel looked around but couldn’t find anyone who might be her owner anywhere in sight. Was this a stray dog? Had someone’s dog gotten lost? He had many questions.
Lionel discovers a note attached to the dog’s collar.
The man pulled the note out and was deeply concerned by what was written.
A pet is a lifelong commitment.
You are committed to giving your pet the best life you can. Abandoning them is not acceptable. Only death and serious, serious illness are adequate excuses for no longer being able to continue with your commitments to your pet. The person who wrote the above note sucks, they suck super hard. On the other hand, Lionel appears to be a good guy.
Lionel describes his experience.
“I experienced all kinds of emotions, but very little foresight. Probably wasn’t a good sight for all the passing vehicles. But inside of that moment of mental-blankness I decided. She was going to get into my car, and off the road. Not because i knew what I was doing, or where to go, but because right then I knew i didnt need to hv all the answers before i took a step forward. And so I brought her home. Fed n bathed her, dried her off n put her to bed. She’s downstairs now in a cosy bed I made under a couch where she seems most comfortable, and I’m up here in my bed, about to feed her bread n honey n chunks of chewies in my dreams,” Lionel posted to Facebook.
Lionel decides to bring Siggy home with him.
Thankfully, there are people like Lionel out there. People who are capable of giving a dog like Siggy the love she deserves. He took her home with him and documented his experience on social media.
“I dont know what matters lie ahead to decide, but i knw for now, i have a few more smiles to share when i wake tmrw morning. The pictures I’ve posted are in sequence. You’ll see the folded note around her neck in the first pic n the full note in the second,” Lionel added on Facebook.

Siggy seems like a very sweet dog. Unfortunately, Lionel had another rescue dog in his home that didn’t take too kindly to her. Fortunately, Lionel’s brother was able to provide a loving forever home for her. Siggy would have the happy ending she deserved.
Lionel finished his post by encouraging people not to abandon their pets.
