Man tries to kidnap three girls but didn’t know rescue dog was about to step in
A dog is often called a man’s best friend, and they’re loyal to the bone. They’re also extremely protective of their owners, and that was most definitely the case over here.
The four-year-old Edgar is a rescued dog and has already been through horrible things such as neglect and physical abuse. However, his physical and mental condition drastically started to improve after he was rescued and put up for adoption.
The Lambert family from Pennsylvania absolutely loved Edgar from the moment they met him, and they decided to give him a warm and loving forever home.
Edgar was given a new chance and opportunity, and everybody absolutely loves him. The three little girls in the family constantly play with him and you could say that they are completely inseparable.
Even though this dog was once rescued by this family, this time, he returned the favor in a heroic way.
One day, someone broke into the family home. The 20-year-old Thomas Dewald trespassed with very malicious intentions, as he was planning to kidnap the three children. Luckily, Edgar heard the noise in the home and immediately decided to intervene.
The criminal had already abducted a child three days earlier and put her in a sort of wooden case at his grandmother’s home. Luckily, that child managed to escape. The criminal decided to try again with the Lambert family, and this time he planned to take three.
Father Thom still recalls the whole thing and how Edgar was able to wake everyone up.
“It was like a growl-howl. It was obvious he was really upset and as soon as I got him to quit barking, I heard sounds of someone going down the stairs” dad said to FOX43.
Thom immediately rushed downstairs to check what was happening and noticed that someone had broken in because both the door and the kitchen window were open. His first instinct was to run back upstairs to go check on the kids.
Luckily, all the kids were still in their beds, asleep.
Edgar’s actions haven’t gone unnoticed as he’s now being praised as a hero.
“The dog started barking and woke up the homeowner and scared away Dewald. That dog potentially saved the little girls’ lives. The dog is a hero,” Pennsylvania State Trooper Megan Frazer said.
The kidnapper was arrested, and the police later released in a statement that he picked out this home in particular because of the three young girls. Dewald was charged with numerous crimes, including attempted kidnapping, kidnapping, trespassing, burglary and more. In other words: he’ll be serving quite some jail time.
Edgar’s family can’t be more thankful for this absolutely amazing and brave pup, in more ways than one.
“He’s just the biggest goofball ever. I was like, of course it would be this huge, like, dumb-dumb pain in the butt that would save our children’s lives. Without Edgar, genuinely, who knows where our daughters would be right now. Our family was one hundred percent rescued by our dog that we rescued.”
What a hero!
