Man starts to cry when he comes across his his missing dogs at an adoption photoshoot

Sometimes having a friend around makes it easier to make bad decisions.

At least, that seemed to be the case for Huskies Ragnar and Kloud when they decided to hop their dad’s fence and go on an adventure.

Sandy Hernandez was beside himself after the pups went missing in 2019 – losing two dogs at once must be devastating (but it’s also a clue that they’re off causing mischief).

Don’t take it personally

We often judge people whose dogs run away, but the truth is, sometimes it’s just instinct. They have no idea what they’re doing and it’s not mean to worry or punish their humans. Sometimes they’re just following their nose.

According to Pet Hub (and plenty of experts):

“In most cases, your dog doesn’t mean to run away from home or leave you behind. They may even panic when they realize they’ve gotten themselves into a scary situation and can’t easily find their owner. It’s usually a simple case of instinctive canine behavior: the temptation to explore overrules all other thoughts, including obedience training and fear of punishment.”

Of course, that doesn’t mean you should sit around and wait for them to come back. They’re not always smart enough to do it. And then there’s the possibility that they could be harmed while out and about.

That’s why Hernandez started his search right away.

Search and rescue

Posting online and hanging fliers, the dog owner did everything he could think of to try and locate his lost pets.

One of those fliers happened to lead to a tip that then led him to a nearby animal shelter.

As he arrived, he had no idea there was an event going on at the same time. Ocean Drive Magazine was doing a photoshoot at a shelter that very day.

But that just meant the cameras were rolling when the heartwarming moment occurred.

A happy ending

The event was geared towards raising awareness of strays and rescues and encouraged people to adopt not shop. Photographers took photos of the animals being held at the time. And of course, they took the opportunity to get some snaps of the two naught-but-majestic Huskies.

The crew was outside taking photos as the sunlight bounced off the dogs’ blue eyes. Suddenly, a car pulls up and the video take at that moment makes it clear that Hernandez had arrived and realized his dogs were ok.

The dog dad arrived while the pups were on the front sidewalk getting their photos taken. And in shock and relief, he yelled out “Those are my dogs!” as he ran towards them.

When he reached them, he simply pulled them into a huge hug.

The cameras continued to roll to capture the heartwarming scene that quickly went viral. It’s hard not to get a little emotional as Hernandez buries his head in the dogs’ fluffy fur. After the tear-filled greeting and some questions to ensure he was the owner, he was able to take his best friends home.

Ragnar and Kloud happily jumped into the car, never knowing how much of the drama had to do with them.
