The world is a very dangerous place. Women are often targeted for sex crimes. Luckily, the woman in this video had learned some effective self-defense.

When a pervert saw a woman entering an elevator one night, he thought he had the perfect opportunity.

Before the elevator doors closed, he ran up and snuck in.

The woman appeared to be relaxed. But in actuality, she was preparing herself.

Before approaching the elevator, she had noticed that the man was looking at her. She couldn’t be sure, but she suspected his intention for getting into the elevator was to do something other than traveling to another floor.

The man walked behind the woman. Then he got close to her.

He leaned his chin on her shoulder. The woman backed away at this, convinced now that she was in danger.

She had already started recording herself on her phone. She hoped that that would be enough to deter the pervert. But he started walking close to her again.

So she put her phone away and prepared to defend herself. The man placed his arm on the woman’s shoulder.

She looked like she was going to swat the arm away. Instead, she elbowed the man.

The man was not expecting this. And he staggered back from the force of the woman’s elbow.

He was still shocked when the woman turned around and gave him a right hook to the face.

The man clutched his face in pain. With his hands away from his body, the woman gave the man a sharp kick to the testicles.

The man leaned forward in pain. So the woman grabbed his head and brought it smashing into her knee.

This time, the man fell to the ground. He was praying for an end to the beating.

The elevator then stopped off at the woman’s floor. And she walked off calmly, as if nothing had happened.

Unknown to the woman or the pervert, a camera in the elevator captured the whole sequence of events. It appeared online, where it soon went viral.

To date, the video has managed to gain over 2.3 million views. It also has a range of comments praising the way the woman handled herself. People have been saying things like this:

The comments are humorous, but in reality, this situation could have turned out very differently. The truth is that sexual violence against women is widespread all across the world. It needs to be taken much more seriously by all societies.

One of the worst things about it is that many instances of sex crimes go unreported. It’s hard to know what percentage of these crimes go without being reported. But some estimate it to be between 67% to 84%.

One of the reasons for this is because the majority of the crimes that are reported go unpunished. According to The Washington Post approximately 0.7% of rapes and attempted rapes end with a felony conviction for the perpetrator in the US alone. In other countries, the figure is likely to be even lower.

In this one instance, it’s great that the woman was able to fend off her attacker. But it’s important to remember that many women are not so lucky and that they are unlikely to ever see justice.
