So what was a piano doing inside a hardware store?

Did the owners bring it there to get a sound tune-up? Does the hardware store owner love the piano and decided to place one inside the store for a different ambiance?

Who knows?

All we know is that this guy couldn’t resist sitting down in front of it and pounding the keys. Yes, a random guy just sat down and played Jerry Lee Lewis.

Jerry Lee Lewis is one of the greatest rock and roll stars in the world. Despite all his international scandals, he still remains one of the greatest.

And he is the originals who played his heats on the piano, including the rock and roll classic, “Whole Lot Of Shakin’ Going On.” This is also the same song this guy played on the piano.

With his white shirt and red cap, you have to wonder, who is this guy and why hasn’t anyone signed up him yet?

Well, somebody did! This guy is Jacob Tolliver, who’s been cruising the music waves in Los Angeles, CA since the early 2010s.

In fact, he has such great love and admiration for Jerry Lee Lewis that, at the age of 19 years old, he was selected to be the understudy for the role of Jerry Lee Lewis, “The Killer”, in the Las Vegas production of “Million Dollar Quartet.”

Plus, he was lucky enough to meet Jerry Lee Lewis in person. And he was the opening act for Jerry Lee Lewis’ shows all over the country. He was also a witness to Jerry Lee’s musical comeback last February 2020, nine months after Jerry Lee’s stroke.

Jacob practiced his craft while growing up in his hometown of Portsmouth, Ohio, inside an iconic hardware/antique store all the time.

In fact, he was the regular but the unofficial piano player at the store for ten years before it closed its doors in 2019.

And it’s the same store featured in this video that went viral and has been shared more than 1.6 million times!

Judging by the comments from the viewers, it’s not surprising this performance went viral.

“This got to be one of the best [covers] ever done! I would pay just to hear and see him play!” Walter said.

“Freakin’ amazing! Kid must have been doing this since age 5. Crazy? Yeah, just like that wacked out, crazy-man, the wild, madly talented singer/pianist Jerry Lee Lewis. He has Lewis’s chops down — the songs, the tempo, the piano work (using the entire keyboard, top to bottom), even the voice (and, I think, the accent). We need more “random crazy” like this,” Vic added.

And this comment says it all.

“Jerry Lee Lewis has been reborn,” Tiffany declared.

Jacob seems to be the modern-day and younger version of Jerry Lee Lewis. With his great piano-playing skills, excellent singing talent, and animated face, he has definitely captured the essence that made Jerry Lee famous.

He may count Dick Van Dyke, Tony Bennett, plus other musicians as his musical influences, it is with his Jerry Lee Lewis influence where his true star shines.

And Jerry Lee recognized that when he invited Jacob to be the opening act for his US shows from 2017 to 2019.

Not bad for a musician who simply chose to jam on the piano to Jerry Lee Lewis’ song.
