Man punches officer in the face, not anticipating K9 would help his partner take him down

One of the duties of a K9 police officer is to help in the apprehension of suspects. That was the case in Newburgh, New York, when police K9 Lee helped take down a suspect who had just punched his handler and partner, Roman Scuadroni, in the face. And while the incident could have been much more serious, it serves as a great example of why you should never mess with an officer with K9 backup.

How the incident began

The incident started when 31-year-old Tony Mann was spotted dancing around outside of a home and acting like he was on drugs.

“I rolled down the window and was going to tell him he can’t be on my property, and then he takes out his knife, and I’m just like, ‘Oh, God, no. What’s going to happen?’ ” Martinez told the Times Herald-Record on Monday.

Not wanting to get into an altercation with the belligerent Mann, Randy Martinez called the police. That was when Officer Roman Scuadroni responded to the call. Little did the officer know that he was about to be assaulted by Mann. Meanwhile, Martinez captured the whole incident on camera.
