As a dog owner, it’s important that you pay close attention to what’s happening to your dog. You should carefully check if there are changes in its behavior. This will alert you of any potential mental and health problems.

Joshua Byrne noticed that his dog Shelby has been acting strange whenever the garbage truck was around.

At first, he thought that she was just getting stressed out by the noise.

Dogs have about three times the hearing capability of humans. There are sounds that seem alright with us but are deafening to them. Some dogs get stressed out with vacuum noises while others are triggered by lawn mowers and fireworks. Joshua thought that the sound of the truck was responsible for Shelby’s behavior.

Wanting to get proof, he decided to record everything.

He set up his phone and waited for the garbage truck to pull up. To his amusement, Shelby darted out of the door and went straight to the garbage man.

Joshua was shocked.

His dog was acting strangely not because it’s having behavioral issues or getting stressed out. She was simply excited to see the garbage man.

Apparently, the man has been showering Shelby with lots of belly rubs and pats. Those things won the dog’s heart. And each time the man passes by, she couldn’t help but feel excited because of the attention and love the man was giving her.

As soon as the two met, the man lovingly stroked the dog’s fur. Shelby, on the other hand, was just being her happy self. She gave the man lots of kisses.

Golden retrievers are affectionate by nature.

They are playful but gentle, particularly if they are around kids. They don’t often park and they don’t possess excellent guard instincts. The breed gets along well with everyone. They are also friendly with other dog breeds.

After Shelby was done sniffing and playing, she ran back towards Joshua.

Her tail was wagging with so much happiness. She looked satisfied after seeing her other favorite person in the world.

At that point, the garbage man saw Joshua.

Instead of getting angry or reacting negatively, Joshua was thankful for the man for being so nice and friendly with his dog. He carefully explained that he wasn’t aware that his dog has a new friend. He also shared his worries about Shelby’s unusual behavior whenever the garbage truck pulls up.

Joshua highly values Shelby.

Joshua’s concern for Shelby is understandable. For him, she’s no ordinary dog. Since the first day he saw her, he knew she was the dog for him.

Shelby was born in a kill shelter. She stayed there with her four sisters. Fortunately, she didn’t have to stay long there. A nice and loving family came to her life and rescued her just before the shelter could put her down.

When she came, it wasn’t just her life that changed. Everyone’s life at home became better.

“She has been such a blessing in our lives since we got her,” -Joshua shared.

A lot of people were able to witness the surprising interaction between Shelby and the garbage man. For them, the moment was precious. It was a good thing that Shelby’s owner was able to record everything.
