When this man found an incredibly basic building on the market for $12K, his friends thought he would be crazy to buy it. Not when they saw the finished project.
The home didn’t look like much at first. It was 575 square feet. It had a cinderblock construction, a small wooden front porch, and some replacement windows.
But the man who bought it, who calls himself The Homestead Craftsman, knew that he could turn it into something amazing.
So he got to work and singlehandedly started transforming the place. First, he tore out the carpets. Then he started knocking down drywalls and tearing off the tacky wallpaper from the frame.
Then he completely tore out the kitchen. After that, he knocked in the tiny chimney on the roof.
Next, he tore up the flooring and set about recreating the whole thing, only better than ever.
Then he had to completely rewire the household.
After that, it was time to take down the wooden porch.
He decided to completely cover up the cinderblocks (for obvious reasons!) And then he could build a bigger front porch!
Next, he completely redid the roof.
For the back door, he built a smaller but still nice porch.
Then there was the interior to finish. And that finished home looks amazing!
Throughout the home, he had added vinyl plank flooring.
The bathroom included both a shower and a bath.
The kitchen had black granite countertops, a dishwasher and plenty of storage space.
All the windows had cordless blinds. Because they were cordless, they would pose no choking hazard.
When The Craftsman showed his friends what he’d achieved, they were stunned. How had he been able to make such an amazing home singlehandedly, they wondered? Luckily, he had recorded the entire thing.
He uploaded the video onto YouTube, where it soon went viral. To date, over 8.3 million people have viewed the upload. It also has more than 255,000 likes and 18,700 comments. People have been saying things like this:
The Craftsman explained that just after completing the home, he got it inspected. The first inspection failed.
The inspector said that every single electrical receptacle had to be replaced with tamper-proof models. They also said that the light in the bedroom closet had to be removed. So The Craftsman got to it, and he passed his second inspection.
Next, he listed the property for rent. It appeared on the market on a Friday, and by Monday, it had already been rented out. The tenants would be paying $600 per month.
Overall, The Craftsman spent $30,000 on the purchase and renovation costs, which is incredibly low!
Due to taxes, insurance and other costs, it would take a while for him to make a profit from renting. But it will certainly happen!
While the house is small, there’s no denying that it’s nice for its size. For some people, it will be ideal. In fact, the bedroom is 11 feet by 13 feet, which is larger than The Craftsman’s own personal bedroom!
It really is an amazing construction. He makes it look easy!
