Man finds tiny abandoned pup living in a boot and gives him whole new life
A lot of people like to throw away what they don’t care for anymore. It’s fine when it’s old CDs, spoiled food, or broken furniture. It’s not okay when it’s an animal.
Serbian resident Goran Marinkovic found an abandoned puppy when he was out for a walk.
He was out in Kraljevo when some trash, and a lone puppy, appeared on his path. It was in a field with tall grass and not many safe spots for a lost dog.
Surrounding the puppy were all kinds of discarded product packages. If it wasn’t the grass it was standing in, it was plastic or cardboard.
The puppy had been sleeping in an old shoe for a while, and was starting to grow too big for it.
Marinkovic is no stranger to helping animals. He’s made it a routine of his to feed the numerous strays with no homes in Kraljevo. But this puppy had it a lot worse than any of the other animals he’d seen.
That shoe could hardly be called shelter. Sadly, there was no other option and she’d already grown too big for it.
The abandoned, sick little thing was still friendly towards Marinkovic. She rolled over and showed her belly – something dogs do when they trust you.
The puppy, whom he named “Coco”, was surprisingly approachable and friendly despite the condition she was in.
Of course, Marinkovic wasn’t just gonna sit around and leave her here.
He took the puppy in and brought her to a vet. It was hard to know how much she could take after her life in the trash, but she seemed like a tough little thing. Coco was a fighter through and through, and it was showing.
Coco braved her initial visits to the vet and got all her shots. Progress!
When that was taken care of, Coco had a lot more therapy and rehab to go through. Still beats living in that old shoe.
Marinkovic uploaded the photos he took of Coco to Facebook, and she became quite famous. It’s pretty hard to resist a puppy that needs a home, after all.
He got tons and tons of offers to adopt Coco in his messages.
This was good news. Coco had plenty of potential homes to live in when she was ready.
But Marinkovic wasn’t sure she was ready, and he wasn’t sure he could just let any home pick her up.
When Coco put on more weight and got all her shots, it seemed like the time was here. There’s no shoes big enough to fit her now, and it was time for a proper home.
After careful though, Marinkovic allowed Coco to settle down in a new home in Germany.
She looks a lot happier, and that makes us pretty happy too. Look at her!
Like always, adopt – don’t stop. For every dog you see in a store, there’s hundreds you could adopt who’d be just as good companions.
