Only about half of the animals that enter a shelter ever find a new home or are returned to their original owner, including the over 3 million dogs that find their way into the estimated 3,500 animal shelters that operate in the U.S.

The saddest thing is that overcrowding means that many shelter dogs go without basic things, such as a bed.

Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that make it worth living. A safe place to stay, food to eat, and a bed to sleep in at night.

Unfortunately, for many shelter dogs, a bed is something that they don’t always have the luxury of sleeping in.

Living life as a YouTube influencer

Before becoming a YouTube influencer, Stuart Edge cleaned porta-potties. Dreaming of being a viral video creator, his dream was to inspire people and make them laugh.

He also found himself in the unique position of being able to improve the lives of some animals along the way.

Stuart Edge is making a difference

Edge recently posted a video of his trip to an animal shelter. While there, he made a shocking discovery, the dogs were all sleeping on the cold concrete floor of the shelter.

“How sad a dog shelter can actually be because the dogs have to sleep on the concrete floor,” Edge explained in the video. “They just don’t have the best situation to live in.”

Edge felt that was no way for anyone to have to live, so he decided to do something about it.

First, though, he called the shelter to see what type of donations they needed. After confirming that the shelter did indeed need beds, Edge called some of his friends to help.

Getting the dogs what they need

Together, Edge and his friends went to a local dog store to see what they could find.

Before Edge and his friends were done, they had packed the back seat of his car full of beds.

And we mean full of beds.

Now, all that they had to do was return to the shelter and surprise the dogs with their new beds, and get in a little playtime with the dogs.

The dogs’ reactions said it all

Time for a playdate.

The dogs loved their new beds, but soon, it was time for Edge, his friends, and a few lucky pups, to go outside and have some fun.

Once outside, everyone had fun running around and playing together.

In the video, you can see the impact that getting a new bed had on some of the dogs as they seemed to settle right into sleeping on the much more comfortable surface.

And all because Edge took it upon himself to make a difference in their lives.
