Man reunites with his blind-deaf cat after she goes missing for months

Raymond McNamara and his adorable feline Lily are the absolute best of friends. Lily is an older cat and recently celebrated her twentieth birthday. Aside from minor medical issues because of her old age, Lily is actually also completely blind and deaf, which can make life very difficult. Luckily, the cat managed to adapt quite well and her owner Raymond was there whenever she needed help.

However, one day, Lily went missing in Florida without a single trace.

In fact, she was missing for over two months, and it’s not exactly easy to stay hopeful about your cat’s wellbeing at a senior age and when she’s completely blind and deaf. Luckily, Raymond never lost hope and fate and kept looking for his feline friend. Immediately after the long-haired Himalayan cat wandered off on her own and got lost, Raymond called the authorities as well as animal control to see if they could help find her.

“Animal control and the police department were looking for her when she was first lost. He stirred up a lot of attention because he was frantic,” Kathy Bieniek of Saving Sage Animal Rescue said to ABC News. “We organized the search party trying to find her but unfortunately she was not found. He left thinking his cat was gone.”

To make matters worse, she went missing in a period of terrible heat, but also rainstorms.

Even though hope was slim, Kathy from the animal organization received a shocking message two months later.

“Two months later I got a message on Facebook that a lady found a cat at the construction site where she was lost. We pieced it together … that was definitely was his cat. Lily did not have a microchip, but I had his mom’s phone number from when I was dealing with him earlier.”

Right away, Raymond headed towards the Pet Express Animal Hospital where Lily was being taken care of. They had to nurse her back to health, as the poor cat was extremely ill, malnourished, and severely matted.

“She was very dehydrated and very sick,” Daniel Rayment, veterinary practice manager of the hospital, said. “She had some liver issues. We hospitalized her, put her on IV fluids.”

When he arrived at the hospital and saw the rescued cat, he couldn’t hold back his emotions knowing for certain that he finally found his best friend back.

“He broke down in tears and is never going to let her out of his sight again. She is his world,” Kathy added. “He’s got her. He’s excited.”

The reunion was absolutely touching and heartwarming, to say the least.

“Hey Lily, you happy to be home? Happy your daddy’s got you?” Kathy is heard saying in the video. “Daddy’s happy too, I can tell.”

“She’s never going to get away from me again,” McNamara then told with watery eyes.

Lily was finally back where she belonged, it the loving arms of her owner.

“She’s not a lap cat, but she was finally able to relax,” Kathy said to Inside Edition. “All that stress went away. All her worries were lifted off. It was very sweet to see.”
