Man tried to rob 82-year-old and ended with him being sent to the hospital

The first mistake one can make is to underestimate an old person.

Yes, they may look weak and feeble, and their parts don’t work as well as they used to. But there are others who teach the young ones a lesson, and most of the time, the hard way.

So what happened in Willie Murphy’s house when a man had to be brought to the hospital? Let’s just say he picked the wrong house to break into.

82-year-old Murphy was getting ready for bed when she heard something.

The door shook as a man continuously pounded on it. The man didn’t sound well. He was asking Murphy, who was inside the house, to call an ambulance.

She didn’t know anything about the stranger except that he needed help. Murphy called the cops but refused to open her door for safety reasons. That’s when the man became hostile.

A loud thundering noise followed.

Murphy tried to figure out what it was at first then she realized that the man broke his door and is now in his home.

The young man might’ve scouted Murphy and may have an idea that she’s old and living alone. He might have assumed that this will be easy work. He was wrong.

The man just broke into an 82-year-old weightlifter.

“It’s kind of semi-dark and I’m alone, and I’m old. But guess what, I’m tough,” she said to news affiliates. “He picked the wrong house to break into.”

Murphy actually works out almost every day at her local YMCA. She shared that she can deadlift 225 pounds.

Murphy used her strength and the things around her house as weapons. But her first pick was something none of us would ever expect.

She used her table as a weapon.

“I took that table and I went to working on him,” she said to the local news. “And guess what? The table broke.” And we could only imagine how that ended up.

She then used the broken pieces of her table, like the metal legs, to hit the intruder. When he was in a daze, Murphy ran to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of baby shampoo.

She squirted the shampoo on the man’s face to disable him. Then, she took the broom and whacked the intruder to submission.

After he took a pounding from an octogenarian, the man tried to escape.

He was too late though as the cops arrived at the scene. By the time they got there, the young man was on the floor exhausted and dented.

It could’ve ended differently for some people, but for Murphy, the bad guys end up on gurneys and ambulances.

“I think he was happy when he went in the ambulance because I sent him in the ambulance. Yes, I did.” She said to the news.

Besides staying in shape, Murphy’s experience can serve as a lesson to others.

First of all, never let strangers into your home especially if you’re not sure of their intention. Verify from a distance or through your window what they want.

It is also recommended that you stay put or hide while waiting for the cops as some intruders might be armed. Most of all, keep your doors locked.
