Man sees hurt dog stranded on highway and stops traffic to bring her to safety
A few months ago, a man went out of his way to rescue a stranded dog in the middle of a Los Angeles freeway.
Although the background story of the small pup remains unknown, it somehow ended up stranded on the left shoulder of a highway.
The poor dog was trying to avoid moving as much as possible, maybe because she knew it was too risky to try to leave the highway.
It is highly unlikely that the dog would have made it safely out of there without assistance.
Thankfully, help was on the way.
One man was willing to go above and beyond to save a poor soul.
Eldad from Hope For Paws was determined to save the dog, but he knew it was going to be hard and risky.
The police wanted to help.
Thankfully, he was able to get a police escort during his rescue mission, while he also had a friend with him, who captured the whole thing on video.
The man drove on the roadway keeping his eyes open for any signs of the small dog. Indeed, at some point, he spotted her.
“This is a nightmare. Hopefully, I’ll just be able to jump out, grab the dog, jump in, and head to the hospital,” the man said in the video that was then posted by The Dodo.
Indeed, things went exactly as planned.
Eldad managed to safely pull over, jumped out of his car, and approach the dog holding a blanket in his hands.
The dog was clearly scared, but she let him cover her with the blanket and take her to his car.
She knew he was her only hope.
Moments later, the video shows the dog in Eldad’s car, drinking water out of a bottle.
The man then took the rescued dog to a vet, where she was shaved and washed.
Also, she had an injured leg taken care of, and then all she needed to do was wait for the shelter to find her forever family.
Soon, a woman expressed interest in adopting the dog and only a while later, Pipu, as she is now called, moved into her forever home.
“She is absolutely a California girl. She now loves the freeway because she gets to be on the lap and look at the cars,” her mom, Laetitia Wajnapel told the Dodo.
As her mom says, she is a “goofy princess”.
She’s kind of curious about her background story, but she loves her unconditionally anyway.
They were meant to meet and become a family.
“No one knows how she ended up on the freeway. Sometimes I just wonder what she’s been through. But she’s happy now. We love her,” Laetitia added.
