Man stuns wife with epic beard shave and haircut
Jon and Eva Mahoney have been living an adventurous life since they got married 5 years ago. He is a Nova Scotia native who works as a teacher and she is a doctor from Moscow (where the two currently live).
In 2015, they embarked on a trip to 33 countries, most of them warm so that they could camp out to save money.
Their travel took them to Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Zambia, Namibia, Brazil, Thailand, and Cambodia, for example.

The day they left was also the day Jon started growing his beard. And boy did it get long!

It kept him warm when the couple ventured to colder places as well, such as Mongolia and northern Canada.

“It was a good excuse to grow a beard, and I was curious to see how long it would get,” he told SaltWire. “Every section grew in a different country.”
But all good things must come to an end, and the great thing about a beard is that you can always start growing one again if you regret the big chop and buzz.

What’s surprising is that Jon made the decision to do it without warning his wife. And not only did he shave his beard, but the luxurious hair he had been growing as well! She was going to come home to a completely different person.
But before we see her reaction, we get to see the entire painstaking process Jon went through to get all neat and trimmed.
The time-lapse video has been viewed tens of millions of times on Facebook alone.
It all begins with his stylist sectioning his beard into pieces so they can each get an individual snip (and banding the hairs together will give him some interesting souveniers as well!).
And there they go, one by one!
There’s no turning back now.
He’s left with quite a mustache and mullet combination partway through the makeover – it’s totally worth chronicling the whole process just to see this.
Once the facial hair is gone, the stylist turns to Jon’s head.
That hair has clearly been growing for years as well – but there it goes…
After a good deal of styling and a final shave over the sink, Jon is ready to show his clean-shaven, clean-cut look to Eva.
But how is she going to feel about this transformation? Will she ever recognize here husband?
We get one last look at some of the hair that came off during the makeover before Eva gets home.

He decides he’s going to have her close her eyes and feel his face and head first.
And she’s clearly freaking out about the possibilities.
After she composes herself, she opens her eyes and sees her husband’s hairless face for the first time in years!
And as you might imagine, she’s utterly shocked.
It always takes some getting used to when your loved ones drastically change the way they look.
