Man sings “Lean On Me” beautifully, not expecting his dog to steal the show

Dogs are amazing animals. They are popularly known as man’s best friend and make a great addition to the home. They are always willing to give us a warm greeting, jumping for joy, and covering us with doggie kisses the moment we enter the doorway. They have an uncanny ability to make us smile, cheer us up, and bring life to our lives. They can even break the monotony of our routine by surprising us every once in a while with their antics.

Some dogs are good at playing fetch, stealths at stealing your food, masters at rolling on the floor, and then there are those that have a talent for singing!

An adorable Husky pup named Kovu has got some stunning skills. He has been filmed singing along while his owner performs the classic Bill Withers single, Lean On Me, and the video has managed to endear and amuse its viewers.

This is Tate Hegstrom and his furry friend, Kovu. His Husky was named after the secondary character in the 1998 Disney animated movie, The Lion King II. Tate and Kovu share a home in Denver, Colorado. Tate works as an administrative resident with a healthcare program called HealthONE.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tate has been working with the North Suburban Medical Center in Denver for the past several months, helping the hospital cope with the new challenges brought by the pandemic.

In an interview with People, Tate described what his work demands:

It’s been setting up different ICU capacity rooms and identifying where we can safely place patients if we have a surge.

Tate is also responsible for taking care of the hospital’s staff, protecting their jobs and boosting their morale. This is a very significant job as the coronavirus took the world by surprise, leaving many hospitals with no choice but to adjust to the pressures.

So the HealthONE program recently decided to roll out a little joy to hospital staff by making a video involving various admin workers, like Tate, singing along to Lean on Me.

Because of the spike in patients being admitted to the hospital, many medical workers are understandably overwhelmed and stressed. The video montage was made with the hopes of uplifting the spirits of hardworking medical professionals and other hospital employees. However, they didn’t expect that the real star of the show would turn out to be a 3- year-old furry canine. This husky totally stole his owner’s thunder.

While filming his part of the video, Tate decided to sing along with his guitar and his dog strategically in the background to see how Kovu would react.

Kovu wasn’t willing to just sit and be a wallflower while his owner sang the song. He joined right in, adding his own vocal howling to Tate’s rendition.

From the start to the end of the video, Kovu howls along while Tate sweetly sings and strums his guitar. And his every howl has impeccable timing with Tate’s performance.

According to Tate, this isn’t the first time that Kovu has been caught singing along to tunes and other sounds.

He actually likes to howl at pretty much anything, from music on the radio to the sound of police car sirens in the street.

All it takes is a little motivating, and Kovu gets right into the groove. If he starts howling, sometimes it can take a while before he stops.

Tate hoped that Kovu’s singing would put a smile on the faces of the hospital workers, but he never expected that his video would go viral.

The video was shared outside of the HealthONE program and became an immediate hit all over social media. It was viewed by countless people around the world, making Kovu an instant superstar.

The video was shared and featured on major media platforms like Good Morning America, and Kovu now has his own Instagram account so his newfound fans and followers can see more of him.

Tate admits it has been “so special” to see so many people enjoying the amusing antics of his beloved canine. He encourages other people to do whatever they can to show their support for hospital workers who are working tirelessly and selflessly every day, especially during the pandemic.
