Man sings lullaby to puppies and they fall asleep one by one
Everyone knows that when all else fails, the best way to get a baby to sleep is to sing. It doesnât matter whether you have the voice of an angel or something that more resembles Homer Simpsonâs â singing a lullaby with the right level of softness is guaranteed to get your little one to drift off into dreamworld.
Thereâs no better example of this on the internet than a video of this unnamed man, who manages to sing an entire litter of puppies to sleep.
The five adorable boxer pups are sitting in a large crate, lined with plenty of comfy blankets to help them sleep. Itâs clear they love their owner very much, as when he leans over the basket to peer down at them, they begin to jump up and yap for his attention.
But then the man opens his mouth and begins to sing.
His choice of lullaby is âGoodnight, Sweetheartâ by The Overtones. As he sings the well-known lyrics, âI hate to leave you but I really must say/ Goodnight, sweetheart, goodnight,â an amazing thing starts to happen!
In an instant, the pups, one by one, curl up into sleeping positions, put their heads down, and close their eyes. The man hasnât even made it past the chorus before every single puppy has stopped wriggling and drifted off to sleep.
Weâre not sure exactly whatâs going through the pupsâ heads here. It may be that theyâre used to the routine of the man singing them to sleep, and can associate the song with bedtime.
It may even be that theyâre not the biggest fans of his singing voice, and theyâve learned that to make him quiet, they have to fall asleep! Either way, the manâs lullaby works a treat.
He stops singing, and the pups continue to lie with their eyes closed. Looking pleased with himself, he grins up at the camera and says, âThatâs how you do it.â
The lady whoâs filming behind the camera replies, âI couldnât believe it if I hadnât seen it.â Us, too!
As the man goes to leave the shot, one of the pups pokes its head up. If youâre a parent, youâll be all too familiar with this scene â you think your job is done, only to find that one of your little ones is still awake!
The man handles the situation like a pro. He swiftly returns to his spot by the crate, and with a simple, âGoodnight, sweetheart, goodnightâŚâ the pup repositions himself and closes his eyes obediently.
It turns out thereâs science behind the way lullabies work, aside from the simple known fact that they make you sleepy. Research has found that the right sort of bedtime song can stimulate our brains to release oxytocin, and causes our heart rates to slow â both of which we need to fall asleep.
Itâs clear that in this case, the man in this video has managed to perfect the art of the lullaby.
Thereâs only one future for the man from here: he needs to set up his own âlullaby singingâ business, and offer his miraculous sleep-inducing service to excitable children and dogs around the world. There are thousands of parents who could do with a lullaby expert right now.
What a talent to have! Take a look at the video below to watch the man hypnotise his pups to sleep with his lullaby magic.
